The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

He definitely is in sleep deprivation.
He is still stabilizing.
I think sleeping and not thinking are first and second on his list.

He may become human by early next week.
It feels good to have the balance back though.

You're going to have to wake him up long enough to help you put together a gingerbread coop! Let's see that engineering mind in action...gingerbread action

It was long, long ago, but I can still remember the euphoria of semester break. Grand daughter # 1 is taking a semester off from college and working in retail. I have never seen this compulsive over achiever happier and more relaxed. The brain needs a break now and then.

Good for her sour!

After working in an office for 33 years, I actually enjoyed working retail. It can be stressful just like any other job but you get a chance to meet some interesting people and it felt good to actually see the person you were helping. And it's not easy to be good at it, lots of challenges to the "people skills" part of it.

NFC, this is the kid who at 5 years old told me, "Pa, frankly I don't care if people like me or not." She actually told me, "Pa, this job is great for my 'people skills'." In the New Year she is starting a school sponsored internship in Manhattan in one of the large publishing firms. The girl is good with the written word.

Maybe the people skill part was a bit of challenge for me because I had to learn not to care if an irate customer was nasty. Those usually made some of the best stories when re-capping the day, lol.

Good for her on the internship, that will be great experience. Heck, just living in the Manhattan area would be an education I would guess.

I watched one of my old bosses deal with some of the nastiest people with a big ole smile on his face.....he was a great people person.....the best person I ever worked for.....My shop refused to pay him what he was worth. If he was still there....I might still be there. I guess it was their lose...Phil
