I am down to 8 hens now. I can't keep Roosters in the City.I don't ever want to give up all my chickens but will have to reduce the numbers I know as I get older and I get older every day. I'd like to be able to keep at least 10 hens and a rooster of 7 different breeds. I really want to add Indio Giagantes in the spring. I have a Roo now that is half Indio Giagante and he is so special. He comes when called expecting a treat of some kind. He gets a peck or two of something special but not enough to mess up his diet. I live in a good climate zone for them.

It is much easier to take care of 8 and We get plenty of eggs.

I have been expecting them to slow down laying eggs by now but they are still cranking them out!Hi Ron, when my Wyoming flock got down to 4 hens, I found out that was enough for eggs for just the 2 of us. And a lot cheaper to feed those girls too.
And here I thought the 25-30 dozen we have in the second fridge is over kill.I have been expecting them to slow down laying eggs by now but they are still cranking them out!
I have been holding on to them but will likely need to pressure cook a dozen tonight. I have 9 dozen eggs in the fridge!

Or a big batch of egg nog for a partyIf the 2 of you combined all your eggs, you could make enough egg salad to feed a small army!
