The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Awwww, thanks Bert! But I kinda DO need the fluff stuff. I gots no eyelashes of my own to speak of anymore, and I'm allergic to mascara. When mascaras boast about being "hypoallergenic" what they are talking about is the carrier...the formula the coloring agent is mixed with. I'm allergic to the coloring itself, which all mascaras have in common. I want to look nice when we go places, and admittedly my eyes were the one thing I had that people really noticed first . Frankly, I always kinda liked that. So when those lashes started thinning out and almost disappearing, I would coat them with mascara even knowing they were going to water and get red.

Now I don't worry about it. Every 2 weeks I go in and have them filled. Takes about an hour, and they look great with no additional makeup at all. I don't even think about them once they're done. Guess it's sort of like ladies who go in and get their hair done every week or two.....I'm always so busy taking care of everyone around here that it's my one indulgence for me, just me - even if I have to drive up Suicide Hill (and that IS what it's known as around here) and make a left turn on an ice rink to get there!

It's pretty simple, Debby....you just go in, lay back on this tabley thing, and they have these eyelash extensions that they apply to your existing lashes with an adhesive. It's not at all uncomfortable - shoot, I've been known to doze off during my session! They last until your natural lashes shed, and then you just go in and get them "filled" in. In bigger cities they charge up to $500 for the first full application, and then fills can be $100 or more, so I'd long before figured anything like that was out of my league - way out of my league! But then the girl who does my hair got her license to do them and she only charges $150 for the full set and then 30-40 for the fills. She does such a beautiful job, and the lash extensions have almost taken over her buisness - she barely has time for doing hair anymore! In fact, she also works at a local bank and does my fills on her lunch hour. Mine don't take long because I don't have much for lashes to start with, but for ladies who already have good lashes a fill itself can take almost 2 hours. It's an indulgence, I know, but doggone it, I like them and I'll keep doing it!

Blooie, you deserve to treat yourself to whatever you want.

Chris, I had to go look up cow eyelashes...never thought about them being especially long before. Hmm, interesting the things you can learn on BYC.

Blooie, couldn't you just use a Sharpie? They come in lots of different colors.
I could but I have too much trouble coloring in the lines......I'd look like those dolls on TV commercials for eye makeup - all color and no substance!

I'll send you some of mine, Blooie - I got eye lashes like a cow

I hate it when men and little kids have eyelashes that I have to pay for!

you can bite monkey toes too!!!

If you've never done a search on monkey toe images before, let me tell you, some pretty strange images pop up.

There is no way on this green earth I'm putting anything like that in my mouth!

You just keep your monkey toes to your self TK!

You don't know anybody that's good at coloring inside the lines that could help you out?
