Thanks and good morning, IM! (Although it's probably almost afternoon there, I'd imagine!) I'm on Pacific Time, so still early-ish here.


It is. I hope I didn't forget anyone. We are planning on getting some Port-A-Huts today (animal shelters) but the place is about 2-1/2 hours away. I should go, but haven't decided if I'm going to yet...

There's a few small chores that I'm wanting to do today. I have a quail with a broken leg, and it's been splinted for awhile and doing well, but it's one of those things I've been trying to keep good tabs on.

Hope your quail makes a full recovery Jen. Quail are so little, that can't be an easy job to splint one of their legs.

Thank you so much! They seem to be doing great--I took the splint off today, it's been probably close to 8 weeks. I splinted it with a coffee stirring straw so I bet they were glad to not have it digging into their leg anymore. It was a compound fracture, so I didn't have much hope, but glad I am so far proven wrong!

I didn't go on the mission today, so I'll be home making cake, butter mayo for our deviled eggs, and possibly some 'nog for the breadwinner on their arrival back home. My SO is a 4-H educator so they're going to stop by the office on their way to get the Port-A-Huts, so that got me off the hook.

Successful day: vegetables purchased, 3 pies, 1 small chocolate mousse/whip cream pie, 2 eclairs. In laws' and grandmother's graves 'dressed' for Christmas.

I hope your quail recovers well. I've never heard of a splint for a bird. Its wonderful that you were able to save her/him!

That is so pretty! I'd be tempted to play with it, too! At least if something happens, the fire and police are on scene!
