The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

It was the crowing noise and her seeming to do better when there wasn't pressure on her chest that made me wonder. I don't know

Let's hope that doesn't happen again!

True!

I guess we will never know and yes, hopefully not have to go through it again.

Thank you [and everyone else] for your thoughts and best wishes .. Dusty also says thank you and "I think I deserve a meal worm"

Yep, Opie goes to the vet Monday. They can keep each other company in sick bay (formerly known as the bedroom).

When does your boy go in?

Both boys go in March 27th so have several weeks yet...vet won't do it any sooner then 6 months. They are the same age so can do it the same time, thank goodness!

On Saturday Night Live- many years ago - they had a restaurant "Pre-Chew Charlie's," Bill Murray was the waiter and he would pre chew the steak for the elderly clientele. Funny

@Teila Better late than never,I am so sorry you had such a bad night with Dusty but at least she is OK now - Chickens are the oddest creatures one minute they are near death and next fine - I know that panic feeling I had it with Beast who incidentally is 100 now - but the 'all nighters' with sick animals are dreadful and the culprits never appreciate how much you have suffered just wander around wondering why mum is half dead.

@whoop whoop - sorry about the problems poor Beast had and go glad he is better.

@Teila - Dusty is one lucky chicken that you heard the problem and reacted so quickly. It sounds to me that the problem was an inhaled or aspiration problem trying to block the airway and your attention helped clear it.

@DigMyChicks - is Opie going for the "unmentionable" surgery

?

@NFC - how's the recovery for DH coming along?

DH's is pretty unhappy...the hospital pain blocks have worn off and he's really feeling things now. We'll both be very glad when this is all behind us!

My Opie is going in Monday for the "unmentionable" surgery and I believe DMC's boys are going in later. I'm sure hoping it doesn't change his playful, loving little personality.

Speaking of chickens (not that we were, lol)...did you decide what breed of chicks you're going to be getting soon?

OMG, poor Opie - the procedure should not change his playful personality - but he won't be very happy for a few days.

Glad your DH is feeling some better. I think you said it was a foot surgery, what was the specific procedure?

Likely no final breed selection until the chicks arrive - thought about just BR's - but that would put Lily as the only one different and not a fair balance. I so love the BO's - but the broodiness is a bother....but DH is leaning toward the same mix 50-50 BR/BO like my original flock. Hoping to get a list of what breeds will arrive on the same day and pick from that?
