The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Bit of a mess here, but things are coming together. Tree down, power surge/brownout, many appliances fried, electrical fire smell in house, but we survived. Power surge strips protected the computer and televisions. Furnace, oven, appliances, 10 light bulbs fried, but the house and inhabitants are okay. Insurance company is making positive sounds about covering costs - hopeful.

Geez, what a day! I really hope insurance pulls through for you and you aren't without hot water and everything too long, Sour! Totally glad you and the majority of everything are okay!

I got some individual sized peach & blueberry cobblers made this morning.

The peaches from the local produce stand have been excellent this year.

It’s going to be a corker today. I’m glad I have A/C.

You get the hot, hot and the cold, cold, brutal! I hope it was an enjoyable day in the AC with your sister! Yeah, and no raisins in my carrot cake, either . Carrot cake is definitely a favorite around here, though.

Good morning, Debby. I smoked a pork butt, which we will eat on for a couple of days. I'm sure there will be fireworks down the county road so we will just spend the day comforting the dogs and Junapurr. We aren't expecting any company.

Smoked pork butt sounds good! Our neighbors have already busted out their fireworks. At least our other neighbors probably don't think it's us which is just as well because my track record for almost taking out my elderly inlaws, a police station, our house, a car is pretty good! (Or maybe my neighbors should know about me, lol.) But anyways, for above said reasons, we won't be doing any major fireworks here! I shear for a guy who lost his eye to a sparkler, so anybody reading needs to be careful with those, too!

House is fine - other than having no furnace or hot water. AC for some bizarre reason was unscathed as was the cook top and microwave along with the freezer and refrigerator. It was truly bizarre.

What a hit or miss event! Glad the house is fine and you still have some things like AC. Hope your home is back in one piece before too long Sour!
