The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

We have March 20th, April 2nd-6th, and Memorial Day off. The next school year calendar is out and we don’t get any days off in April or May. I have 4 days of vacation available. We can only have 5 days built up and they give us 3.5 at the beginning of each year. I can only carry over 1.5 days so I need to use 2.5 days, or I’ll lose them. I’m using one on field day for sure. That day is a nightmare.

I can’t wait to see them. I usually don’t plant anything here until around Mother’s Day.

We have a system coming in on Tuesday also. Sounds like something on the weekend too.

Good morning Debby.
UC Davis does not limit sick leave, so I had close to 1800 hours of it. They do limit vacation but the top end is 384 hours.

The sick leave adds to your service time which get you a bigger pension!

Mayhem is accurate!

70’s sound so nice! Every year I tell myself I’m not planting many flowers and every year I make a liar out of myself.
We are having highs in the 80s next week!

Good morning, DMC.
It is isn't it? I have a son who is adhd, and I thought raising him was rough, but we never considered it a disability. He behaved as well as other kids his age, he just required extra activity and mental stimulation.
The only special needs child that I can remember in my daughter's class was a little girl with down syndrome. I was proud that my daughter befriended her and invited her to outings. She had a tutor but other than that, she was treated the same as the other kids in school.
I don't know when all these special needs problems came up but it does seem like they're disproportionate to the general population now. I think a lack of discipline at home is a big part of the problem. My grandson, who is severely autistic, has been repeatedly told he is special and that his anger issues are normal. He has a lot more potential than he will ever realize because everyone makes allowances for his poor behavior. I feel like they are doing him a deservice.
Good morning Janie! It's tragic. Our grandbaby's are mostly non verbal, although they are slowly improving. Breaks my heart.

Hope you have a good day. 💞

I agree with you Janie, a lack of discipline at home isn't doing anyone favors. What happens when they are adults in the world? Not everyone can be special, not everyone (like teachers, employers, neighbors) will make allowances for bad behavior.

I don't know if she was ever formerly diagnosed but one of my nieces was raised to think she's "special" and her behavior problems should be excused. She's in her 30's now and has found out the world is a harsh place.

Working on the bathroom this morning. Need to go to town for supplies this afternoon and our monthly beekeeping meeting. That means a dinner date too, so looking like a good day. 💗

A dinner date sounds like a good reward for the busy day!
