does Bear still have a sense of smell? I would think their aroma would be powerful - kind of musky.

I had some that walked on the outside sill of my basement windows. I could see & smell them go by when I was on BYC posting.I'd bang on the window and they ignored me. Even had a skunk walking that plank but, thought better not bang on the window and scare it. Does skunk perfume permeate glass?

I believe that stuff could permeate 3 ft concrete walls. It knows no bounds.

Good morning all

Lost the internet connection at work so posting isn't as easy as before, hope that changes soon. I miss popping in on you all!

It was cold here last night - I didn't venture out of the house until after 10am! The mist rolled in and it was a bit bleak there for awhile but then the sun came out (still chilly in the shade though). I used my noggin and washed out the chickens feed trays/bowls last night so I didn't have to stand and scrub them with the hose (and freezing cold water) this morning. Should be warmer tonight as there's more rain on the way for the weekend.

I'm just trying to look at paint colours as we will be painting soon. It's intimidating! So many colours. The kitchen, bathroom and laundry are all done now and the plasterer is going on holiday for two weeks which gives us time to have a shower installed in the laundry (it's a second bathroom with a toilet in there) and get the tiler in. Then we can move some stuff into the laundry so the rest of the house can be plastered, but hubby wants to paint in there first. Not sure we'll get that far!

J, that sounds like a lot of work but your house is going to be all fresh and new!

As for picking colors, maybe stores around you have like ours do...you can buy small sample sizes of the colors you're interested in. Then just slather the sample paint colors on the wall so you can get a good look at them, see how the light in your room affects them. Might give you an easier time of selecting the one you want?

My new girls are enjoying the outdoors. I put them all together in the big coop last night and they survived the night. I hope this black one in the middle is not a rooster. I'm thinking one of the white may be a rooster too. I saw a chicken in my flower garden and went investigating and found a pile of eggs...figured they were laying somewhere other then the coop as egg count was down. I'm sure thats not the only spot, the buggers!

DMC - your babies are beautiful. I love that light buff one near the front with the bluish looking tail. Naughty big girls, stashing their eggs!

DD asked how my birds were and I've finally got some half decent photos of the Java finches. Little Stumpy doesn't like to miss out on attention and has started hopping on us and chasing the others off!

Thanks Jae! Your birds are beautiful. Stumpy cracks me up I wish I knew what chickens are crossed to get that color of Easter Egger. I have one that's all gray like her, she's very pretty.

I agree - I love buff and blue together. We don't have Easter Eggers here but I've seen some gorgeous ones on BYC.

Stumpy is a tough little nut but it's amazing how much they rely on their claws for grip. One of the young ones has one foot that's fine but I don't think she has any claws on her other foot. Her clawless foot is always slipping, trying to find purchase when she sits on us (pretty sure she's a girl - she sure bites like one)!
