The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I wash mostly in cold water and I failed to use the built in sterilize/clean out cycle until it was too late.
But I did find a new one on sale 25% off and will make sure to run cleaning cycles this time.

Glad to see ya :frow. I'm working, integrating my new gals to the old hens, trying my hand at Polymer Clay, working, working, working, working :lau .

Thats great news. He is a cutie.

X2.

I hope you mean 2 established employees who are predictable and dependable :fl. And hope you and your DS have a great day.
Thanks! Good luck with your girls. :fl That's never easy playing referee for the new girls from the older ones.

Yikes! I don't blame you for not wanting to tackle that cleaning job! Hope you like your new machine. And I'm glad the integration is going so well. They are such pretty girls.

Glad you finally found us again! I'm hand rearing birds once more. It's tiring (I'm a little bit sleep deprived) but they are all so adorable. It started with my crazy Java finch who squashed two babies and nipped toes off a third (we did have a thunderstorm which is unusual for us so not sure if that's what made her do it). So I took her two remaining babies and have been hand rearing them.

Here's my latest little project, a baby Bourke who is 4 days old and has just started opening his eyes today:

His two siblings out in the aviary hatched three days before him. We were in for a cold snap (we had some serious frosts) and I knew if I left his egg out there in the nest it would die, so I stuck it in the incubator. Unfortunately the other late egg died despite me putting it in the incubator as well, but this little one is full of life and eats like a horse!
Aww, how adorable! :love I hope you get some rest soon. It's grueling work but so rewarding when you see them grow into adulthood. :hugsSorry to hear about the mishaps and missing toes. I remember the told biting thing happened to the last clutch. Is that normal or stress related? I had Zebra finches once, I don't remember them doing that.

Java finches do seem to be highly strung little things so I can only assume it's stress. Even my hand reared ones find change a challenge and they can be quite flighty. But they are always excited to see us and are quite affectionate little things.

It was really hard getting up this morning. But little Squeak must've heard me as he was sitting up squeaking when I peeked in. He's getting strong now, sitting up tall, demanding his food.

Wonderful news! He's sooo tiny. :)

Hey, Debby! So I was just on Facebook and there's a group on there I like very much called "Wyoming Through the Lens", all photographs folks take from all around Wyoming. A lady posted some shots of antelope on the course in Sinclair, and I said I knew the folks who run it. Got a PM from her and she said that you and Frankenfoot are great people and the restaurant is the best in the area! How about that???
