The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

So sorry about your mom. That was a rough life on her. I understand why she would give up on dialysis. I hope and pray every day my kidneys remain healthy, so far I'm lucky, but I fear kidney failure and blindness.
She ended up with a brain bleed/stroke a couple weeks prior to quitting dialysis which made up her mind. She knew she would never walk again. It didn’t affect her speech. We had a couple fabulous days to say goodbye. I pray that your kidneys and eyes stay strong. :hugs

Cranky old man?
Um, kinda. But I try to channel @CntryBoy777, he seems to have the ability to stay up when most of us would be down ;)

Shopping as a whole isn't near as exilerating as it once was....it used to be difficult choosing thru different varieties of products as many more people were observant of others and there was a shared, civil excercise in respect and consideration for others and tbis was taught to the children that accompanied the parent. Today, it is a rude, crude, disrespectful experience while trying to not get run over or mauled by both parents and children as ya attempt to make it down an ever narrowing aisle....with 3-4 stopped in the middle of the aisle chatting on phones as they talk amongst theirselves and could care less how long ya have to wait on them, but ya better not hold them up, or they will release the hellions that are tearing up the aisle as they are oblivious to any responsinility for those little hellions.....and when ya final make it to the cashier....ya have to deal with many that are afflicted with that serious disease called Stupidity....it is rampid out there and they are certainly Multiplying....:)
Maybe you need to shop at a different time of day. Say 9 PM - when the kids are all in bed. And the chatters are at home texting on their phones instead.

It's a daily burden that I wish on no one. I am so full of holes from all the shots and finger pricks.
Wouldn't wish it on anyone. I have to do the cat twice a day. I swear she has no blood left in her ears to test! Guy across the road is type-1 70 units a day in one go :thUnderstandably when he is down to 20 units left in the pen he doesn't feel like sticking himself with 4 of them sequentially so he was throwing them away. Happy coincidence, the cat uses the same kind. Now he throws them away at my house.

I love water! I keep 4 big water bottles in the fridge and go through them every day. DH makes fun of me because I always have to have one with me :D
Water is kinda boring. For a time I was mixing it with juice to give it some flavor. But that is a lot of sugar so now I squirt in reconstituted lemon or lime juice. Probably no more than a tablespoon but it adds enough flavor to make the water "interesting".

Same here .. new integrated to old, band-aids everywhere and no documentation :barnie
I retired from that after 34 years :D

Diabetes never remains the same does it? That's part of the challenge with keeping things where they should be. It's not as simple as doctors make it out to be. I guess I lumped all type 2 into one group, and everyone is an individual.
Yes, some type 2 is genetic and does not respond to weight loss or diet. I suspect that a lot of it is actually environmental--- exposure to toxins--- like plastic and etc.

Quite a bit of it goes along with blaming the victim like our society does.

Well @bruceha2000 I appreciate the kind words and thougbts. As far as shopping goes, we don't get out much these dahs after dark and we try to vet the shopping done during school and work hours...we usually go Mon-Thurs and avoid the 1st of the month shoppers. We don't run into a whole lot of problems unless school is oht and we need something we gotta have.....one of the perks of being retired and being able to choose our time to shop....but, during the summer it is a crap shoot....unless ya go right after feeding the animals their morning pellets and letting them out....while most of the hellions still ha e sugar-plums danci g in their heads....:)

:lau

I sometimes feel bitter towards type 2 diabetics as often they can be rid of it if they exercise and eat right. I know I shouldn't feel that way, but it's not an option for type one, and I don't understand why anyone would choose shots over exercise.

:thumbsup

Good morning Debbie and all! We must have your same weather pattern here. I just dug out my lease recipe so I think I’ll make that tomorrow. I did 2 pans of lemon bars last night. My oldest is on the fire department and they have turkey bingo tonight so he needed a pan of bars and since I’d have a mess anyway I made one for us. My egg supply is getting less due to molting so maybe should have done something else... oh well! I got 2 out of 23 yesterday. I got my new furniture yesterday. It is so comfortable.

Or maybe if you go at the "wrong" time you should wear your animal feeding clothes, especially the boots. People might just make a path when they smell you coming :D

Got 3 eggs yesterday, none white. All the > 6 month old girls have moulted or are now and have quit for the year. That means either Betty or Trill finally started laying. Not sure which but the egg wasn't as reddish as Veronica's, more like shiny tan, so I suspect Trill laid it. Good size for a first egg at 56g. Good thing I didn't keep making bets with @sunflour on when Betty will lay compared to her next one in line! Like Oreo, Mint seems to have quit, last egg was on the 5th though she still has a red comb. Those Exchequers Leghorns better lay their little butts off come spring. Every other pullet I've had laid through their first winter.

Congrats on another pullet laying. My 3 Welsummers are still free loading :lau.

But Debby is laying regularly and her eggs are now up to a light medium egg weight :)
