An update to the fake egg adventure.....

Got home from work and DH said he found the fake egg I put in the juvenile coop nest......I didn't do that. Got him to go out and collect the egg and he still thought it was a faker egg til we placed it on the scale and placed a ceramic egg on the scale. He thought I placed it as a joke for yesterdays event, when he fooled himself :lau.

It has to be Road Runner's (BR)

egg - but lighter and cleaner than hers ever were. Color right for Lillie(BO) but I'm sure her hormones have well been spent. For sure not a Welsummers egg, and too big for the 2 laying anyway.....so any guesses??

Fake egg on left, today egg on the right....I vote BR Roadie, she had been laying til her molt but no eggs for about 6 weeks.

I can see how your DH got confused about the fake egg...sure looks real. As for the real one, guess it could be Road Runner's or maybe even Lillie's if she had a random moment. You know them best!

By odds RR's - she has laid nearly every day for 4.5 years until this molt one month ago - Lillie hasn't laid in about one year...and the shape is BR...

The disappointment is we want all to move and lay in the old coop, but this was in the "temporary" coop :hit.

Off tomorrow, so gonna find time to make curtains for old coop - maybe that will help

Jenny [the car] is a 2006 model and has been a really good car up to this point. However, she is getting a bit long in the tooth now and has done over 150,000 kms [93,000 miles] so things are going to start to wear down.
It is just getting started! You don't drive much do you! DW's 2006 Prius has over 170K miles (~274K miles). But yeah, around the mileage (kilometerage??) you have things do start to need replacing. You have to consider how much you like the car vs the cost of fixing stuff. Fixing is usually cheaper in the long run than replacing the vehicle.

Looks like the color of Trill's egg. She is a Barnevelder. My White Rocks lay about that same color. If your birds go back to laying 6 weeks after they start to moult, you are doing WAY better than I am. It is usually 2.5 months minimum.

Re fake eggs. I made one out of a piece of cherry. It isn't as realistic as that ceramic one but I did have to take it back out to the coop the first time DW found it. Most of my fake eggs are plastic.

I apologize to any that it may upset, but I will share the events without the pic. I was out on the porch looking at the stars tonite and heard the ducks quacking, but not their alert call....this is unusual for them at nite, so I decided to check it out....went to the backdoor with a flashlight and shined it in their yard....their pen is separate and lined with half inch hardware cloth....there were 2 shining eyes looking back at me, but thought it was one of the cats....just in case tho, I grabbed the 22....I walked to the backside of their yard so the dicks wouldn't be inline with a shot and saw it was a huge possum.....needless to say it will no longer be making any nitely visits....it was a very large male. I always tell them to let me know if something is around and I'll take care of it...they did...and I did. I told them it was okay and they could settle down....they did. I know it may sound crazy, but I sure talk to all my animals just like they can understand....sometimes I really think they do.....:)

I am not upset .. x 2 on the Good for You!

While I am obviously an animal lover, I will not be responsible for my actions if someone or something hurts any of my babies!

We are lucky enough to have the cute and cuddly, non chicken [or duck] eating possums. Well, not cuddly, they still have claws ;)
