Oh and it's going to a PO box. Can boxes go to P.O. boxes? They recently opened one since for obvious reasons they didnt want to give fans their address lol theyre in a fairly popular band, I've known them since they were still tiny
Yep. If the package is too big to fit in the PO Box, the clerk will put a note in the box so the person can get the package at the counter. Unless it fits in one of the parcel lockers, then they get a key to the parcel locker.

As for the package, thanks for the info Bruce! So I just say what's in it when I'm there and they handle it?
Pretty much. The labels are usually kept on a "supplies" counter off to the side. Fill one out there then get in line for the counter. The clerk will ask the questions, they have to, you will tell them there is a worldwide shortage of bubble wrap because you used so much. They will weigh the package to get a shipping price, probably offer "add on services" like insurance, tracking and such. You have to decide if you need those things.

It doesn't hurt to have the name and address on a piece of paper in the box, for the very rare instance something happens such that the label on the outside gets screwed up somehow. Tape the box with packaging tape, not regular "Scotch" tape. And when shipping small things, make sure the box is big enough for the labels. That isn't usually a problem for "general" things but if you are sending something certified, it gets more labels. And if you are sending it international it needs even more room. For those it might be worth swinging by the PO and asking what all would have to go on the package so you can see just how much space you would need.

Yes boxes can go to po boxes. There are usually bigger boxes that the postal worker will move the box too and then put a key in your po box. If the box it too big for the delivery boxes, they will put a notice into the po box for you to pick up the package from the counter.

They will put fragile stickers or stamps on the package when you pay for shipping.

That makes sense, thanks

The big problem with shipping is the drop and automated systems used for shipping. Packages are rarely handled by people.

Adding fragile might help with the guy putting it on your porch though.

Any package you ship needs to be able to drop 6 feet into a bin. I also need to be able to handle things dropped onto it from 6 fee.

From my experience, most people that ship eggs have no clue on how to pack them and then blame the Post Office

Wow 6 feet!? Will mugs survive that?

I know how to pack but i still the ones marked fragile got beat up more.

Interesting

Wow thanks so much for all the info!

I'm a paranoid maniac so I bought the heavy duty shipping tape and put 2 pieces on the bottom and will on the top too when I seal it.

You can also order free boxes from the P.O. Check out their website - I believe the boxes are priority mail or flate rate priority Boxes come in a package of 10. You can also order (free) mailing labels, and the labels that say "Priority mail."

The mail carrier will deliver them to you. They also have a free priority sampler you can order which gives you some sizes - to help you decide what you will need.

Respectful to packing methods marking fragile and etc., I believe it is the luck of the draw. If your box is going usps and it is the first one into the bin, it will have more damage.

Rather scary!

Here is the sign, light is poor so it looks darker in good light.

Thanks, I had no idea you could order online!

Wish I knew that before I bought Wal-Mart boxes haha it's okay though, they're cheap

Scary indeed!

I buy the Walmart boxes when I need much bigger ones. At Sam's club last year I bought
a six pack of Scotch shipping tape (big rolls). I end to go overboard with tape. I always worry the bottom will fall out and they'll deliver an empty box. After the video, I am more worried than usual.

Even with UPS delivery, I can see the sides were kicked in, or the bottom is barely held together. I know my delivery man is short and slim and I've seen him drop a box from his shoulder height to the ground in front of me. So much for writing fragile or handle with care, or This end up. Nobody cares. I can't believe it's possible for fertile eggs to be shipped without having them scrambled. Just no respect.

Someone sent us 3 boxes from Amazon, and I have to admit they all arrived in good condition - no dents or anything with the boxes.
