A lot of dogs are like that! Labs and goldens but especially Labs often think they are puppies until 3 or sometimes even 5+ years. But with Labs i think it's mostly their lovable goofy nature, with the shepherds I imagine maybe it's simply energy level.

But most dogs don't really fully mature/grow up and calm down until 2 or 3 years old.

Our old Lab we used to have to throw the ball for hours

Ohhh okay! I wasnt sure cause he said the dog would have to run towards you to fetch it? And i wasnt sure how or why it would be different with different hands?

Your dominant hand is stronger so if your throw is shorter they have to come back to get it. Like when i hit a tree it stops and she keeps going. Hard to miss all the trees in some places.
