The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Time to go spend the evening with DH...wishing you all a wonderful evening (or morning as the case may be) and I'll say it again tomorrow but no time like the present...

Merry Christmas!

You guys are all so wonderful! How did I get through the last few months without you? May there always be a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree in your hearts and a gentle spirit guiding your deeds....

@Blooie you probably don't know me. After I joined and introduced myself, I spent more than a year lurking. What did I know, I was a new chicken owner?... But I found myself drawn to your posts. And I read them frequently.. A few months ago someone invited me to join this post. I still don't have a lot to say, but read everything. And I'm thrilled to be a part of this group. Your charlie brown post brought tears to my eyes and that's not an easy thing to do. But it was so special and so familiar, it really touched a chord. BTW DW is 5' and blue eyed and I'm 6'3.

Thanks a lot bruce, you're a lifesaver!

Although I was about to say, I tried that nifty search feature and found it adter i posted. I must admit i forgot about search - too panicked. I hope they like it.... now I'm nervous about that

I'm too late to the party but would say BREATH! You've got this. It's not magic and you can do it.

Looks like you all are going to have to put up with me today. We're staying home instead of trying to travel.

Anyone want a cookie? I have dozens.

Debby, I have ice falling from the sky right now. not a happy camper.

Blooie, do be careful! Wish you were staying put today too but I know you have a lot of practice driving in these conditions.

Stay safe!

Please be careful. Roads can get ugly in a heart beat.

Finally got the mac and cheese in the oven, took longer than I thought (I found one online) and it's a bit milkier than i thought plus was rushed at the end by family yelling me/trying to "help" but actually just getting in the way....

Anyway, it's probably not even good plus some people might leave before it's ready (hopefully not) but at least it's done.

Next time, if there is a next time, I will start much much earlier but it was also kind of thrown on me last minute.

Also I gotta shred the cheese beforehand or just buy shredded. I wasnt really thinking.

But gosh this is stressful. No wonder so many people hate the holidays

I've never had to make anything before, I just eat it

Now hopefully I can actually sit down and relax for a little bit.

Merry Christmas to you too! Those gingerbread houses and coops are all so adorable! ❤
I did indeed get a few awesome presents, one of 'em chicken related (my wife just knows how in love I am with chickens lol).
In Germany we exchange presents on Christmas Eve after dinner which is why I'm already talking about presents. ;)
However we're waiting until Christmas morning to open our care packages from the family in the US. Double the fun! :D

I'll bet it was delicious.

So, it is Christmas morning here. I made a decision that I was not going to tell you this but then when I read the first unread post, I changed my mind. I confess to feeling a little down after watching FIL open his present from us and hubby open his present from FIL. What I got for Christmas was confirmation of my suspicions of my place in this family. I know it is not about the presents and it is the thought that counts but there was no thought either, zip, zilch, nothing.

However, I log in to BYC and see I got a present … @Blooie !!!! :love Christmas just got a whole lot better!

MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all! You guys n’ gals mean so much to me and I am so happy to be sharing Christmas morning with you xoxox

Merry Chistmas

Gorgeous!

That rooster/chicken was actually a present from my wife for me since I'm the chicken crazy one in the family. :D
Wolfgang needs a T-shirt: Crazy chicken man!

But I found myself drawn to your posts.
Hard not to be isn't it! She has a very engaging writing style.
She's gonna write a book soon. RIGHT BLOOIE??? hint hint, wink wink, nudge nudge
(sure hope I don't chase her away with that)

LOTS of us :love Blooie

I'm going to give it a try right now!
Wasn't hard at all. The thing that took the most time was waiting for the water to boil for the fusilli. Didn't have white pepper so I had to use black and make a generic "very slightly gray" sauce ;) Family decided it needs more flavor next time. Maybe some sharper cheddar and a couple of other "more flavorful" cheeses. Oh and DD1 said garlic. I love garlic :)

Um, aren't MOST cars driven for personal use? So they are "rewarding" people for driving older cars that use more gas, possibly pollute more since there are no inspections. Not sure I'm happy with that.

A personal vehicle doesn't have a limit on the number of miles you can drive with them. Historical vehicles do in MO. And no, some vehicles are used for business purposes.

Doesn't use gas uses diesel.

This car has been and is in perfect mechanical working order. You cannot get a car to last 32 years by not keeping the maintenance up to date along with the bodywork. Plus, until this year, the car has undergone and passed regular safety inspections in order to be licensed in Missouri.

Don't see what the problem is, bruce.:idunno Jealous? You are paying an outrageous amount of money for a two year plate/sticker. Not as bad as IL was but 140$ is still a bite.

The historic license plate for my car cost 23$ for the rest of it's little metal life. For the amount of driving I do it will hopefully still be around in another 15 years and still be cherry. And I can take it to car shows and let people see how long a well maintained Mercedes can last.

Thank You all :hugs

Wolfgang B. I love the chicken light .. it is beautiful!

I have watered the plants, given the girls their Christmas present, a vol-u-vent filled with yoghurt and topped with live meal worms .. As Dusty does every year, she grabbed one up all to herself “mine, mine, mine!”, finished the second coat of stain on the catio wall and chatted to loved ones, including my son, on the phone.

I bought myself a Christmas Present! Stephen King’s IT is currently downloading from pay per view for me to watch after lunch. Neither hubby or FIL are King fans but I intend to kick back on the couch and watch it.

Hubby is currently stuffing the turkey and tonight we have a neighbour [single gentleman with no family close] coming over to join us for Christmas dinner so hopefully a pleasant evening in store.
