Thank You Jae!
It has taken me over 6 months to get to this stage with the garden and I hope that I am able to improve it even more.
I forgot how it looked when we arrived so took a wander through the photographs .. no wonder I ache!![]()
Thank you!
The vegetable side does get morning sun but the tropical plant side, no, no sun; most of them would burn as they are more suited to a rain forest with canopy situation. My tree fern, which is having a growth spurt, decided to send one branch out from under the shade .. I did warn it
Anyhow, that one branch, shriveled and burnt![]()
Don't beat yourself up and don't think you can change everything overnight. That's a recipe for feeling like a failure. Choose one thing to do differently and feel a sense of accomplishment that, a month from now you are still sticking to that one thing, despite anything else that's going on.
There's many a day I wouldn't make it through without chocolate! Dark chocolate, mind you, but still.![]()

@CapricornFarm you need to do an interview! Sumi has a terrible time getting anyone to do them (seems especially lately) but they are a fun part of BYC I think. It's always interesting to get to 'know' members better, usually hear some good stories, see some fun photos.
Several of us right here on this thread have done them and I'm sure you'll recognize other names on the list:
#2
(Mine is there under my old user name NorthFLChick, Blooie, Teila, oldhenlikesdogs, ronott1, sourland, etc.).
@Teila love the look of your yard! That poor fern is probably heaving a sigh of relief in his new pot
@JaeG 80* water from your cold tap? That's crazy! About what time of year do you all start cooling off normally?
Of course!
Beautiful!
If you are borderline or have even been diagnosed as type 2 it is totally reversible but you have to make it a priority. It will not be easy. I watched my mother die from this and it was awful. My nephew was diagnosed earlier this fall at age 27, his was very bad! He got scared and he took complete control and is doing well. He started out on 2 pills and has cut 1 out already just by changing his diet. Please take the bull by the horns and take care of yourself and that’s all I will say on it, good luck!
I’m trying to get hubby to take the camper to Wyoming this summer to meet you but he doesn’t want to take it that far. He wants to see Wyoming though. I could be your helper![]()

What is a camper for if not to go somewhere?? I know someone that figures they haven't gone anywhere if they don't put at least 2,000 miles on theirs when they go on their annual "vacation". Hard to call it a vacation when one is retired
HEY!!!! Brussel sprouts are NOT gross! Unless you ask my wife or daughtersI'd forgotten about roasting them with olive oil. They are very good that way.

Someone should lose their license to practice medicine.
Who are you again? You do look kinda familiar
Good strategy. It IS way too easy to over eat when the container is right under your hand.
True, somehow most people have a predisposition to LOVE sweet stuff. Hard to ignore, especially once you start in on it. Just ONE more double chocolate Milano, I swear.
Never too late until you are in the ground
If you haven't, I'd go get a physical and see what the blood work says. In the meantime, try drinking water instead of going for that next Lucky Charms "snack". If water is too boring, try adding a little lemon or lime juice concentrate.
KD, you can turn your life around! Do it! Set a time to get up and a time to go to bed. When you get up, have a quality breakfast. Make time for lunch and sit down for a meal. Turn off the tv while you eat. Go for a walk, even if it is short every day.
You will feel amazing if you cut back the sugar. Set a start date and do it!
You can do it Kdog You just have to stop(for now) with your other projects,ie, maybe bunnies, cages, etc. Make YOU priority. YOU are your most important project. Stay on task. Do your parents even know what is going on (blood sugar, etc.)

My brother used to hate brussel sprouts but his girlfriend somewhat forced him to eat them haha maybe I need to try some.
Yeah, if I have the container I practically eat it all ha not really but I do eat a lot more. But then what's on your plate or in your bowl is never enough.
That would be DW and regular Wavy Lays. Open the bag, Family size, finish the bag. That is why we don't have them in the house (at least not that SHE knows about wink wink)I am good if it's not in the house but if it is i eat it.
Ok, Since I can't seem to grow a Brussels sprouts, I've got to weigh in... I can't think of any way cooked or raw that I don't like them. DW hated them for years, found she really liked them when I browned up some pancetta, then browned the brussels, added some toasted pine nuts and the pancetta with some parmasiano regiano cheese. And just to top it off for her, I'd add a balsamic glaze. (btw, either I can't spell or this spell checker doesn't understand Italian). Ironically she also likes them fried in butter with onion.
ETA: it's also nice with fresh basil.

) but surprisingly the third had absolutely no cracks or anything in it so I made myself 3 eggs. Scrambled them this time but no cheese. They don't look like very much scrambled but they were big eggs, huge yolks. At least large or even XL maybe? I didn't weigh them. So 3 eggs. No cheese or ketchup or anything which I usually use. And then I had 1 Chobani greek yogurt, the 0% ones, peach. That's the only slightly unhealthy/sugary thing but i wanted something filling. Then I also cooked up tons of greens I grabbed 2 handfuls of a spinach baby kale mix and 1 handful of a spinach, baby bok choy, baby chards mix, and sauteed it with olive oil. Ate that up. Yesterday I made spinach kale mix with 2 handfuls but it wasn't quite enough so I made 3 this time and wanted to add the spinach, bok choy, chard one thinking maybe there'd be some different nutrients. I didn't feel like a salad so cooking is better at least now. Sometimes I do make salads. I tend to put a bit too much olive oil in though but I can work on cutting that. And I made the eggs in butter. And salt and pepper both the eggs and the greens. So not 100% healthy yet but not unhealthy either. I was going to half blueberries too but they are already getting moldy despite just buying them like yesterday or the other day

I am proud of you KD! It could be lack of sugar or caffeine maybe. Maybe have something with a small amount of sugar like an apple or something. Sugar is a terrible addiction, i do know how it isAnd okay so today i woke up like 1:30 1:40 as usual and ate around idk 3 or 4, so not the best yet, BUT. So far today I have eaten really healthy. The chickens had laid 2 eggs so I grabbed those after refilling their food and then walked around the yard and purposely up hills. Came in and grabbed the 3 eggs from yesterday out of the fridge. Accidentally dropped 2 (which I called Gator in to clean up) but surprisingly the third had absolutely no cracks or anything in it so I made myself 3 eggs. Scrambled them this time but no cheese. They don't look like very much scrambled but they were big eggs, huge yolks. At least large or even XL maybe? I didn't weigh them. So 3 eggs. No cheese or ketchup or anything which I usually use. So that's my health food for the day.
And oddly I am not remotely hungry yet even 3 hours later.
I do want to ask though I have been a tad bit shaky the last hour or two though (although less so right now) and was wondering if you think I should keep up my strict no sugar regime today and let my body detox/blood sugar equalize or if you think it's possibly low blood sugar and I should drink some juice and no other bad stuff? Cause i did that once and i was fine but i really don't want to have sugar
I also did this.
Oh and turns out it IS my time of the month after all.
