The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Only got a couple of minutes before I head to work...

Good morning! Rise & shine!

@N F C right now I'm just focusing on getting my flocks up & producing meat. The eggs & chicks will be several years down the road. Hope your trip to the store is safe and you don't freeze.

@JaeG I've got 2 OEG, 2 Cochin & 1 silkie for my bantams. They're all pretty tame and don't make much of a fuss when I pick them up. Hopefully the little baby that's putting up such a fuss is just very talkative. So sorry about the other one.

@Teila I love me days like that. Haven't had one in years. Enjoy!

Teila, those tiny babies are cute! Glad you are having more success with your capsicum. Good luck with your cake - I'm sure it will turn out beautifully. :thumbsup

Kelsey, hope you're having an awesome time in NYC!

What bantams have you got Michelle? Only coz I love bantams! I wish I could put my broody chooks to work.

Unfortunately my little Button quail that wasn't looking good died, and one of the bigger quail chicks, the Coturnix, isn't looking great. Right from the start it has cried more despite not lacking for company. That's never a good sign. Yet I've seen it eating and drinking. So I've put a few more eggs in the incubator as my DD loves it (of course)! Just don't tell DH! Shhh!
Sorry you lost one. It is never easy!

That much snow would probably close down the cities and bring out the National Guard in the south :gig
Doesn't take near that much to shut things down where they don't have snow removal equipment. 1/2" is more than plenty, until it melts the next day.

Thank You, I will definitely sing out if I run in to cake trouble. I have done all the prep work I can and now it is just hoping it is OK on the day.
You can do this Teila. DD1 made an angel food cake with gluten and potato starch free flour mix. "Regular" will be much easier. What are you going to do with the ~12 egg yolks?

before the weather deteriorated
:lau:gig
Not long ago you were unhappily posting how the rain was passing you by or just disappearing before it got to you. Now rain is "deteriorating" weather!

In Brisbane I tried many, many times to grow capsicums but they always fell off the plant before they were mature .. pretty excited about my first crop here.
Same question as the others. A search suggests your capsicum is what we would call a bell, or sweet, pepper. Capsicum peppers here are .

Only coz I love bantams!
So you have bantam Button quail?? Do you need a magnifying glass to find the babies?

The trees are beautiful this morning!
