The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

We set up our generator this morning. We had moved it for some reason. But so I was able to charge my phone. Still have to use data though.

It is a small generator so we only have it powering the kitchen and the furnace. I'm not even sure it's powering the whole kitchen, just the fridge, one set of lights, and we can charge stuff.

There was coverage on our news about your wild weather and I was thinking of you. Hope your power is restored soon. Crazy weather! It's going to be a big clean-up job for many people.

Wow really!?

Yeah, it is pretty crazy in some areas! My aunt in PA has been without power (and heat) 20 hours! She just had her hip replaced.

And I think those states are getting snow too. We only had rain but very flooded in some towns near the ocean with the high tides.

We have branches everywhere from the pine trees but thankfully mostly little branches and needles. I don't think we had many trees fall but we just had one snap as we were leaving (picking up my friends phones to charge them, she lives really close, travel ban lifted) so. And i haven't been in the woods yet to walk around and look. Too dangerous still.

My dad went in the woods, just barely, to pick up a chicken feed bag and something else that had blown away and he fell. Has a scratch on his face and hurt his hip

Hope your Dad is ok. And your Aunt recovers quickly. That has got to hurt! Hugs to you.

Yes, your poor Aunt, and Dad! I saw people evacuating because of the predicted super high tide (it looked like terrible flooding even before that) and all the downed power lines. Scary stuff indeed!

Thank you both! I will pass the message along.

And yeah, there's some very bad flooding in some areas! And lines down, though I haven't personally seen any. A lot of areas have or had big trees across the roads too!

Apparently the fire department has said it might be a few days or a week without power! I am hoping it's not that long.

My friend lives in an apartment complex across the street and I guess they said it would be back on at 1:30 today. I'm not sure I believe that though. Apparently they originally said Monday but she called. So now she's not sure when it will be back on. And that complex has lots of little kids. I guess the transformer literally exploded last night and they don't have generators over there.

I am trying to study while it's still daylight in case the generator runs out. But of course I am being distracted by my phone haha

I hope we get power soon! But like 95% or 97% of the town is without power right now and they only have so many workers. Plus all the other towns that are also out and have the same electric company.

This is an elderly neighbors tree. You can't really see cause it's a slight hill but it's a big pine and there are also other little branches/trees. It came close to hitting their house.

Sorry it's not zoomed in either, I just snapped it at an intersection

And the FD page has more pictures and videos now of the severe flooding and the trees in roads etc. They also have a horse rescue video and pictures!! A shed collapsed on the poor horse! He's fine now though
