The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Hey Ron, thank you, we are safe here at present and the house is high set.

Jae it does not happen often, I think the last major flood was 2009.

Yes, Ingham is our 'town' where we get most of our supplies [15 mins down the road]. We do have a small shop here at the village and also a pub / bottle shop so we will be OK for a while :p
Well as long as you have a pub, you are all set, right?

I went to Lynchburg today, got lost, walked a lot. Got to the hospital for my Sonogram of the left breast. Apparently i have a 5 cm mass at 7 o'clock ( mine or theirs?). That was not there last year and is oblong and irregular. So not happy. They are supposed to call me with an appointment for a biopsy.:barnie

:fl Hoping for the best!

Diva, the inside of her mouth, teeth, and tongue were all fine when they sedated her and got a good look in there. Just the chin. It wasn’t very long, but it was extremely deep they said. Obviously a puncture type injury too. Silly kids! And yep, gray hair....now you know the real secret of why I gave up the battle of the bottle. It was a lost cause anyway! I just went in to get ready for bed and found blood in my bra, for crying out loud. Really, Kendra? <sigh>

Boy, that looks one industrious mouse - much more industrious than the cat actually was! Yuck !

1000 pounds of feed? Okay, I’ll quit complaining about trying to get Evan full when he’s here!

I’m on my phone again, so it’s hard to go back through all the posts and be halfway coherent. Nothing wrong with the computer - just mopped the kitchen floor but ran outta oomph to put the table and 6 chairs back so I can’t get at the computer. Not doing it tonight - it can wait until Ken gets home from Lodge to help. Teehee

Blizzards, power outages, floods - and Kendra in the ER getting stitches in her chin.

Who says kids with mobility issues can’t find “normal” ways to get hurt? One minute she was fine, the next minute she was screaming and pouring blood. I don’t mean a steady drip, or a fast drip - it was a stream going from her chin to Kenny’s shoulder when he scooped her up. The “normal” part is we were standing 20 feet away from her and out of the three of us, not ONE saw just what happened. Yep. Normal.

Poor kendra! :(

FaceTiming with Grampa from the ER.

Aww

Well those aren't supposed to be underwater either, ESPECIALLY bridges!

Lol yeah underwater bridges are not so good

Probably nothing.

Probably but i thought maybe if there was a biological/body need for it like Teila said maybe not eating it could be bad

KD, My avatar had some golden retriever in her even if the vet said otherwise. She grew blond hair on her backside and was infatuated with tennis balls and water. I was out fishing one day and at the pick-nick area there were a group of young folks and they had a pure golden. They were playing catch, tossing the tennis ball in the water and the dog was loving it. Then they got tied up in conversation... Dog brought the ball back to them like three times, put it on the bench.. No response, dog took another swim and then dutifully walked up in the middle of them and shook off. Moral of the story, don't ignore the wet dog.

Teila, All I can say is WOW! Stay safe, and avoid high water. My house is 750' above sea level with my road at 300' so even when we have flooding I'm good, but keep a nice supply in my pantry as going to town isn't an option.

KD & blooie I love reading your posts. BYC is my escape from the real world and I always smile as I read.

Jae, I too resisted the urge... But I'm talking with my incubator supplier to order some tubing and disinfectant so I can start breeding again soon. We need to select our breeders and put them in their associated sells. I'm creating a convent and hotel suite for the turkeys, keeping the non-breeding toms out of the green house. Trying to decide whether to breed ducks or Delawares this year. RIWs and Hollands are a must along with all four of my turkey breeds. Turkeys are the easiest... When the girls start sitting, I move them to the hotel and bring in the right tom. Give them a week and then back to the convent they go.

Blooie hope kendra is feeling better and that you find the source of the injury. Kids and Poults are really creative at finding ways to get hurt. The detective work can be mind boggling.

Folks, BYC is my alternate reality... I come here and everyone get's along and no one tries to tell someone how to live, etc... And you're just fun people to be around. Sorry I'm so late posting tonight, but long day at work, couple of necessary stops on the way home, then go get feed 45 minutes away and stop at wally world for gas and a couple of necessities. Then back home and unload the 1000 pounds of feed. Did I mention that I hate feed?:barnie

I truly hope I didn't miss anyone... If I did so sorry... feeble mind...

Hahaha OMG that is hilarious!! What a funny dog!! Goldens seem like great dogs. :)

And awww thank you!! :)

I think you all are fun too and much nicer than some people.

Also I say breed both hah

Maybe depends on how much demand there is in your area for either one? More of a demand for ducks or Delawares?

My sister sent me these pictures today...apparently she has a mouse:gigShe moved a bookshelf and surprise! Her cat is not doing his job.

OMG wow that is a lot of food!

She needs a female cat lol

Or some mouse traps

Funny... I asked my feed guy if he was going to charge me extra for the mouse he delivered with the feed. I apparently imported an Alabama mouse into Tennessee with my feed. The state vet will hate me.

OMG wow!

Well one mouse probably won't last

:( :hugs Sorry! Hope it turns out to be nothing! :hugs

:hugs Hopefully they'll get onto it quick so that you know for sure what's going on. Not knowing is the worst! :hugs

:fl:fl:fl

I'm off to bed now - hopefully I'll get some sleep tonight. DH has done his back in and he's been very restless these last two nights. :this exactly how I feel!

I am making Pizza. This is a family favorite. I use Lidia's Pizza Dough Recipe. There is no sauce in the topping. We call it White Pizza.
Top of Dough: EVOO, Garlic Powder, Pecorino Romand Grated Cheese, Pepper and sliced muzzarella. Lidia's recipe makes two
12 inch round Pizzas and it keeps well. I cut it in wedges and wrap
in Wax Paper for later warming in toaster oven. My husband's
favorite.

:hugs

:fl Hoping for the best!

Good morning everyone
Neighbour loaned me an incubator... I thought it was going to be one of those itty bitty table top ones... Nope. A 41 egg hova bator! Woo hoo!

Cap - massive hugs. I hope that the biopsy happens soon and that the results are benign. I'll be thinking of you.

Blooie - I'm assuming Kendra is a typical kid and she's forgotten all about it already.

Bob - sorry you had a rough day. Hopefully we have helped relieve some of the stress for you.

Teila - holy moly! That's a lot of water! Once it starts to subside how long will it take for everything to dry out?

K - goldens are an excellent choice

Cap, I missed your post last night! Okay, deep breath. Biopsies are done just as much to prove something isn't anything to worry about as the other way around. So we all need to focus on the "ruling out" reason for doing them. Nobody's said anything about "confirming", but if and when that happens we'll deal with it the way we have everything else - with a positive outlook, lots of love and prayers, and a good dose of humor!! :hugs
