The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I am attaching the recipe as a pdf. Let me know it you have trouble with pdfs and I will work on pasting in text.

They were very good
I was able to get it on the computer but it wouldn’t open on my phone, they look so good, thank you! Have you ever done hard boiled eggs in your cooker?

That is what I was trying to convey!

He's a pup ;) But now he can make use of all those offers to join AARP. DD1 got one when she was 17. So bizarre I actually called them. They, like a lot of other places, buy mailing lists and shotgun the offers. I don't know what list she was on that made them think she was mid fifties, heck she turned 25 a week ago and is still subscribing to Cricket magazine!

Yep. But USPS is the only "bulk" carrier that will ship live animals. DW has gotten tropical fish to ship out.

Ahh okay! I wasnt sure ha

And oh wow fish you probably have to be especially careful with!

I cooked some this week in the instantpot!

Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs

Author: Lisa Johnson

Ingredients

  • 12 large eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • ice
Instructions

  1. Place trivet at the bottom of the inner Instant Pot pan.
  2. Place eggs on top of trivet, stacking evenly if necessary.
  3. Add one cup of water to the pan. Close the lid and set Instant Pot for 5 minutes on Manual at HIGH pressure.
  4. Allow pot to release the pressure naturally for 5 minutes, then very carefully quick release any remaining steam.
  5. Scoop eggs out of pot and place in an ice bath for 5 minutes.
  6. Remove from the ice bath and peel or store in the refrigerator until ready to use.
Recipe Notes

  • I used my 6 quart Instant Pot®, and the trivet that comes with it.
  • Place a dish towel over the vent when you release the pressure/steam or you may burn yourself! Gently push on the vent and release the pressure in short bursts.
  • I cooked 12 eggs, but I “believe” that you can cook more using the same exact times above. I will give it a try and report back with the results.

At least fish would be fine with not eating for a couple of weeks if the post is slow.

Our last cockatiel went to its new home today so our four can relax. (Our boys were getting a bit jealous with the young upstart showing off to their girls). Dottie (one of the girls) was rocking out to Avril Lavigne's Sk8ter Boi song. It was the funniest thing! She was flapping and throwing her head around - really dancing. She's such a madam - if she doesn't want to get off my shoulder she will grab the finger of whoever is trying to get her off and push them away.

That is so precious!

I think they tried to set up something years ago where chicken folks ferry birds, chicks, ducks, whatever to some one , and maybe coming back pick up something for themselves.

Can't recall but, I don't think connections were worked out often enough or not many
folks participating.

Today we went for a trip in to town, then I came home and cleaned the coop and then harvested parsley, sage, chives and basil which are all now in the dehydrator. Then I planted some coriander, Italian parsley, thyme and oregano.
