The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Tree removal is neither cheap or easy. <sigh> Our house is surrounded by big, BIG trees. I can't even convey how big around these behemoths are!! Photos don't even show it! The cheapest estimate we got was $1100.00 per tree - um, we have 6 of them. So they are still here. Temperature drops about 10 degrees when we get out of our cars, open the gate, and step into the yard in summer, though. Otherwise this old mobile home would be like living in a pop can in a Walmart parking lot!

Whoa, that's a biggie alright. What kind of trees are they B?

They are willows.....not the weeping kind, the upright ones. If you want one, all I have to do jam a stick from it into the ground and it’ll grow - fast. And they lose branches in the slightest winds.....they’re what the old timers called “self pruning.” Yeah. Those things have dropped branches 10 feet one and 8 inches across. We used one that was hollow inside, cut it in half, and used it out in the run cut side down as a hiding place for older chicks. Is it any wonder thunderstorm season makes me nervous?

Example of “self pruning” - that limb was 18 feet long and 22 inches around.

Yikes, that's scary!

I just culled my first chicken today. Wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be.
Although she was on antibiotics for days she was showing no signs of improvement, and I had to protect the rest of the flock.

I've never done that (that falls under DH's category)...glad it wasn't too bad for you.

Trying to get a 3rd.estimate to take down Treezilla (Sycamore tree).

I think we are going to get a second estimate but I think that's somewhat reasonable.
