Your best bet is getting to your vet and get some of the topical flea treatments, they come in 3-4 packs, I recommend the pricier one, the cheap ones don't work as well and stink. Stuff like Front line. You are also going to want to have him checked for heart worms and get him on a preventive.
 
one other thing to consider if ya'll are gonna keep him......heart worm meds......

they make a med now, and it combines a flea and tick preventative.......
 
I ordered an aquarium magnet cleaner from Dr's smith and foster, while I was on the site I ordered Bisket the 'Indestructible Lizard"
It took her less than a minute to destruct it.
But she had five dollars worth of fun!
