The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Finally caught up again! Your chickens sound happy in their new home, Kelsey. Glad the change over wasn't too traumatic for them.

We have some banana palms flowering in our garden and Mr Tui came to drink the nectar this morning so that was a bit of a thrill. I took some photos through the kitchen window so they aren't great, but it was wonderful for the kids to see him so close and thankfully he didn't seem to notice us. Usually he's on the highest branch he can find chortling and honking away to anyone who will listen. The poor banana palms are pretty tattered at the moment after all the wind we've been having recently.

For some decent photos of tui have a look at this page. They have gorgeous, iridescent feathers.

Debby In my catch up I had typed “hope you have a good day” but you are back already ;)

Michelle I do hope your boss comes good with the additional hours.

Jae Mr Tui is beautiful!

Thank you for the ‘Zone’ education all ;)

I got nuff’n except that it is only predicted to get to 80.5F today .. time to break out the woollens :p
Time zones are tough!

(I'm trying to catch up this morning so bear with me!)

Debby, I needed a good laugh, thank you...

Straight rows are over rated. I just toss them in.

Agree..

Morning has just about had it, 11:34 here. Waiting to get sewn up after Mohs surgery.

Hope all is better soon.:hugs

Yeah, got it all first cut. Gotta love it. I am not supposed to lift anything heavy for 2 days:lau

LOL! What part of I have chickens and feed comes in 50# bags was unclear?

Be careful Cap, don't want a set back.

Hey, I'm hommmmme! Done until tomorrow :D
X2 and congrats... The boss wanted me to work OT today but others are working in my space so he declined. Made so happy...

Tell him you want it in writing Michelle! :rant
X2 He sounds like a problem child. Good leaders don't devastate their loyal employees hours.

I thought that was crazy too!

Love the pic btw :lau

My dad thought that I shouldn't have even planted, he wanted to just exclusively buy started plants cause he thinks starting seeds is a pain in the rear. Personally I think it is fun and I love watching them come up and start growing and how small they start compared to how big they get.

But I might have to buy plants this year after all if my peppers don't come up soon. :/

I think you've had the latch question answered. I'm still learning about my new zone, but peppers and maters are ready to go out.
I haven't even had luck buying started peppers. Our summers are just too darn short.
I wish you were close enough for me to loan you my hoop benders.

Yeah, I'm zone 3 :(

I'm in 7A. Planted everything I could yesterday. Woke up to Frost 31* this morning and it's now 91* My poor baby plants are getting killed by the weather.

There are things I can't grow here though--Not everything can take the heat of summer here.

I will like a zone 7 much better

One day, I hope to have 3 greenhouses so I can grow the stuff you can...

I was surprised at how fast they got use to it!!

Although we did have a hen decide the corner was more comfortable today.

I guess that comes with the territory of having the whole coop be comfortable though haha

Also was chillin in the chicken coop and took selfies with Angel

And I got locked in again but I don't mind.

And I gave the chickens sprouts earlier after cooking them last night. Some cooked some uncooked. They loved them
They lay eggs any where!
