The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

She’s 17 weeks, Bruce. Yep, weeks!! And she’s such a good girl. Today we took her up to Billings. She traveled perfectly, two hours up and two hours back. But she does NOT like a leash....never been on one until last night. She does her Bambi-on-ice imitation. But she’s not winning, not even once. She’ll do it my way. We took her into a Pet Smart, half dragging her through the parking lot and through the store, but I’d gone in before we took her in and warned the staff. So they thought she was hilarious.

After she figured out who was in charge she was great, although she still fought it somewhat. She made friends with a little guy about Kendra’s age and he has Cerebral Palsy. She didn’t scare him or push herself into his space, and wagged her tail calmly as he tried to pet her. She all but grinned at him while his mom petted him. Then she sat quietly at my side while I paid for our stuff. Score!

I’ve never seen a fawn that close up before. I’m not sure that I wouldn’t try to park a lawn chair out there with my camera! @N F C did you say the antelope are dropping their fawns now too?
I have resident does on my place....several generations of mothers and daughters. This particular fawns mother has her fawns in the same spot year after year. Have several pics of her fawns through the years.

yep, it is but it is what it is! Don't worry, I'm sending you some Mexican Speckled eggs and some Red Golden eggs.
I am not worried, just sad about those birds. I detest senseless killing. Lost a whole tractor full of Pol pullets to a pack of dogs while i was on vacation once. That was before i knew how weak chicken wire is. I got the call, "your barnyard is full of dead chickens!" In a way i am glad i didn't see it. Heartbreaking! Hugs.

Oh no, another city kid that thinks the eggs just show up in the carton in the back of the store?

"Probably" she says. :yuckyuck

How about you google an angel food cake recipe from the US and see what kind of sugar it says to use.

Odd the doe would leave it out so close to people. One year we had a doe that had twins behind the pond in the really tall weeds from the prior year. They were inside the crappy 3'-4' fence. We got the alpacas that fall, and I put up a 4' woven wire fence with hot wire on top. No more little Bambis frolicking behind the barn. I'm sure the doe could clear it but I doubt she would trust them being in the same space as the alpacas.

Phew!!! I was thinking "That is a BIG puppy". Of course then I looked at the pictures of Fiona and I think "That is a BIG puppy!!!" How old is she?

GOOD PLAN!!!!

From the looks of it the adult version of @Blooie's pup is plenty big enough to be a crutch.

Happy anniversary! We are working on #28, some people start earlier than others.

You do and we'll :smackyou! We need to live vicariously through others.

They can use the old chicken hoop coop. Shouldn't be too tight a fit when she's grown ;)

Brilliant idea!

I did that and one just says "sugar" but in the recipe says put it in a food processor for 2 minutes until superfine. Two others mention nothing about it.

I am thinking it's probably fine but I ordered caster sugar the other day anyway. Should be here tomorrow.

And LOL I thought the mom was the puppy too

For some reason I had thought you said she was 13 weeks so her size more understandable now. She's a whole month older, if she was that big at 3 months I'd be slightly concerned lol still a big girl though.

But she sounds like a great puppy!!

They are baby turkeys. Its a temporary thing until i get the hoop coop built. I need to figure out how many cattle panels to get, TSC has them on sale.

Do you think they're on sale here too? I need to get some. Thanks for the info.

Awwww that is awesome!!

I wish the deer had babies here. I never see them. We do have deer and turkeys but sometimes we go a long time without seeing either and I've never seen babies. Well, I have occasionally seen young ones, we saw one with spots once or twice but not little tiny babies and seen yearlings or two year olds. I wish they brought the babies around. Thinking of planting some clover or deer mix or something.

Wow! Full on whirlwind day, so much so that the fact that I have handed in my resignation has not really sunk in yet!

Yep, I did it! I got the contract, it has been signed and uploaded along with the confidentiality agreement; foot pedal and headphones on order. I have a transcription guide to read and I was going to do that tonight but nope, I will save it for tomorrow .. I need time to process and celebrate!

:wee :celebrate :clap :ya :woot :yesss:

Congratulations, Teila. Must be the year for changes. Daughter has held down a full time job in addition to doing legal and medical transcription. She just turned in her resignation and has purchased the transcription company that she has worked for. Long story made short is that they cut her a deal because they wanted HER to carry on with their customers.

Morning all :frow
Way to go Teila:ya
Happy anniversary Cap, You're a couple years ahead of me...
KD, for my raised beds I start with sawdust, sand and compost... Takes about three years to get it where I want it...
Sean, that just stinks... So sorry you have to start over
Debby, I developed a water leak in my main a month or two ago. Sunday the plumber got 300' of the 600' in... He finished yesterday and I finally have water without the garden hose taste. On a funny frustrating note, I got a pamphlet from the water company yesterday, I'll have leak insurance on June 1st...:barnie Something new they are doing for all their customers. On the turkey tractor front, mine stay in a tractor until they are 8 weeks old. Mine are 3' tall vice the 2' tall for chickens. And all of my tractors have 3 hot wires around the base.
