The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Good morning.

Woke up to 5 more hatched.
Still have some pips.
3 chanteclers and 3 buckeyes (not counting the one that died).

:fl

@Blooie last night I started reading a new book and this morning found a reference to an Irish Wolfhound back in history. I just checked and that part of the story I'm reading is based on an historical (maybe exaggerated) story. Here's a link if you would like to check it out:

How's Fiona doing?

That was interesting, Debby! I've seen similar tales (tails?) in other books I've read. They say legends come from somewhere! Wouldn't you love to be able to read that poetry a little easier? I sure would. There's a guy who reads Robbie Burns' "Ode to the Haggis" at the annual Robbie Burns birthday bash we attend, and it just flows because he emigrated here from Scotland around 15 years ago. And if you have never heard Auld Lang Syne the way it was originally written, without the drunks and the lampshades and the slightly incorrect melody, you can't imagine how beautiful it is! I have a CD of the Barra McNeils singing the original version, and I was so moved by it that I did a slide show of Wyoming scenery using it. Haunting song!

Fiona is doing great. Absolutely no housebreaking issues - good thing or we'd be coming out in the morning needing to paddle upstream! No barking - still haven't heard a single "woof", not even when folks ride past the house on horseback or bikes. Molly barked if it was Tuesday. Or Wednesday. Or...yeah, like that. Greets everyone quietly at the gate but doesn't jump or lunge at them. BUT - she IS a 4 month old puppy and they chew. Manageable with a smaller dog, but when the guilty party has 5 inch jaws.....<shudder> She's learning...a firm "no" and then giving her what she's allowed to have usually helps, but if she goes to the forbidden object (like our TV/Internet/Phone cable! Grrrrr) then she gets the penny can. Fiona no like the penny can. Well, Duh, dummy - then quit earning it! And now I can put her on a sit/wait, fill her dish, then release her to eat without her flinching....and I'm not even holding collar or leash. Slowly, slowly she'll become just the perfect dog for us. :fl

"...the perfect dog for us", that's wonderful B:love Great about the housebreaking deal! It sounds like she's learning quickly (the penny can is ingenious).

I'm off to Amazon to look up the CD!

Get the lunch sized bags.

Then I just want more lol

Yeah, when I tried that I went from lunch sized bags to a lunch bucket and suddenly found myself with a 5 gallon bucket and a fork! :he

@Blooie I found the Barra MacNeils web site...looks like some great music! products
Hmm, how to choose :idunno

YES, please I'd love to see the slide show!

Here's the slide show, Debby. The translations are underneath each photo. I have yet to figure out why the photos aren't as large as they are on the original Smilebox....but as soon as it went up on YouTube it was a little "off", and it didn't put them in as high def, which they were when they were uploaded. Oh, well. I think I could change that, but I don't look at it often enough to take the time to figure out how. BTW, I took every photo close to home except the fly-over of Big Horn Lake - Little Diane took that one during her flight home.

I was using a penny can to train my cat not to bother my cockatiels. One day she was getting too close and i tossed it her way. Bang! Right in the head! Knocked her out cold....i was crying, thought i killed her. But she didn't bother the cockatiels after that...:lau
