That was interesting, Debby! I've seen similar tales (tails?) in other books I've read. They say legends come from somewhere! Wouldn't you love to be able to read that poetry a little easier? I sure would. There's a guy who reads Robbie Burns' "Ode to the Haggis" at the annual Robbie Burns birthday bash we attend, and it just flows because he emigrated here from Scotland around 15 years ago. And if you have never heard Auld Lang Syne the way it was originally written, without the drunks and the lampshades and the slightly incorrect melody, you can't imagine how beautiful it is! I have a CD of the Barra McNeils singing the original version, and I was so moved by it that I did a slide show of Wyoming scenery using it. Haunting song!
Fiona is doing great. Absolutely no housebreaking issues - good thing or we'd be coming out in the morning needing to paddle upstream! No barking - still haven't heard a single "woof", not even when folks ride past the house on horseback or bikes. Molly barked if it was Tuesday. Or Wednesday. Or...yeah, like that. Greets everyone quietly at the gate but doesn't jump or lunge at them. BUT - she IS a 4 month old puppy and they chew. Manageable with a smaller dog, but when the guilty party has 5 inch jaws.....<shudder> She's learning...a firm "no" and then giving her what she's allowed to have usually helps, but if she goes to the forbidden object (like our TV/Internet/Phone cable! Grrrrr) then she gets the penny can. Fiona no like the penny can. Well, Duh, dummy - then quit earning it! And now I can put her on a sit/wait, fill her dish, then release her to eat without her flinching....and I'm not even holding collar or leash. Slowly, slowly she'll become just the perfect dog for us.
