Non Me!

Are you thinking about getting some?

Possibly. They're so cute.

Probably lol

We had them and lovebirds growing up. They can both be bullies so I now prefer birds that can live peacefully together. We were told budgies (what we call parakeets) would never breed indoors. Ours did no problem! So did the lovebirds (they were my sisters). Females should be at least a year old before breeding and some colours can be harder to sex. But a happy pair should breed easily.

This weather is teasing me. I did some washing because it was breezy and sunny. Now it's cloudy and still.

Thanks for the info! If the parents raise them will they be friendly?

And how old are the parakeets in pet stores usually? Because I'm pretty sure I saw two mating today LOL never seen that before but I didn't know if the store ones are too young to actually breed/successfully raise anything? They probably take any eggs away anyway. I know I have seen birds feeding each other before but never that

I don't know if there'd be any money in raising parakeets though.

But it'd be a shame for true love to be separated LOL

And now it's raining! :barnie

That sucks

If they are like chickens I would guess it unlikely. My 2015 broody raised girls took quite a long time to accept the fact that I wasn't looking to hurt them. I think Zorra warned them to be cautious of everything. They are certainly the most aware of potential danger of all the girls. Zorra wasn't particularly wary until she was raising them. Then she became a sentry watching both ground and air.

BUT maybe if the parents are friendly, the chicks will be as well.

Thanks! That's what I figured but from what I was reading, parakeet chicks are very very small and therefore hard to handraise unless you're experienced so I was nervous I would kill them. Maybe I could let the parents raise it the first couple weeks until it's a little bigger and then take over? Or let them wean it then just handle it a bunch.

Called the vet all by myself today. They didn't have any appointments today but I made one for Friday at 5:20. The cat is overdue for her rabies shot (was due in January) so we've been keeping her inside. Though she really doesn't go outside much anyway, trying ti male her indoors as she gets matted outside. That's another reason I want to take her, she is matted and needs to be shaved. I forgot to mention that on the phone though and they close at 6 on Fridays so I'm not sure if they'll have time to shave her since it's so close to closing but I will ask when I go and if not I'll just make another appointment. Not a huge deal and she's not terribly matted or in pain that I can tell.

She is also sneezing a lot today I just noticed but I think that is just from all the pollen? I'll ask about that too but probably nothing.

The dog also needs to go but I'm gonna make a separate appointment when it's less busy. We also take him to a different vet but are thinking of switching him to this one. The other one is great with the animals and very nice plus VERY reasonable but I think he's now slightly scared of Gator because he growled at him once and he's huge. Plus he doesn't do many tests or whatever which is good for costs but with all Gator's health issues we want a second opinion and lots of testing.

That said, I do like how he doesn't try to sell us into anything or do a million tests unless we ask. For example, this one wants me to bring a fecal sample but the test is kind of expensive. I think I'm going to this time because of a situation I'll mention in a second and I get that they just want to make sure the pets are healthy but idk. Also last time they try to get you to buy the expensive all inclusive meds and it even says on the bill "ask about x meds" so like they're required to ask. Don't like that and it's a little more expensive but it's not much more and they're also very nice and good with her and the groomers are excellent.

Anyway, kinda proud I called them lol

That's great! You're really starting to face things head on!
