You caught my attention with 'butter'. What are, and how do you make butter tarts ?
They're kind of like a pecan pie filling.
Main ingredients are butter, brown sugar and cream. It's a fairly liquid filling prior to baking. Once they're baked the filling forms a soft crust on top and has a slight ooze when you bite into them. They most often are made plain or with raisins or walnuts.

I spent the afternoon driving around all the area pet stores and looking at the parakeets lol and other animals but mostly the parakeets. 5 stores total. Lots of driving, whoops. Before that I ate lunch at Panera Bread. I wasn't planning on going to all 5 as they're kind of opposite directions but I love looking at the animals and I wanted to practice my new aging and sexing skills LOL found out some of the stores had some pretty old ones (not old like seniors but like adults or breeding age and not little teeny babies) but then a couple had some really young ones. Thinking the young ones would be best as I read they adapt better/faster than older ones which makes sense to me. Thinking I probably won't get that breeding pair necessarily but rather 2-4 babies.

But that's if I even get them. Idk if I want parakeets yet as I still need to plant the garden, possibly add an addition to the chicken run (though it's fine for now), and then either sell my 4 goldfish or move them. That means buy a huge expensive tank or build a pond. We actually have a pond form we got recently I might use even though I wanted a bigger pond but it was free. That only works for summer though so I either need to build it deeper or do both pond and tank.

Also am trying to save up to move out eventually and just generally save. I've gotten a lot of graduation money.

Plus travelling or shows.

Anyway, long story short, I have a lot of other, better uses for my money and time right now so responsible me says birds have to go on the back burner for now while impulsive me is ready to order the cage on Amazon right now lol

I originally wanted gerbils as my next pet and still might but idk. I think I'm more likely to be allergic to a gerbil bit idk. I have the supplies I got when I was seriously considering one but I might sell those.

I do think birds could be fun. Or annoying. Budgies sing and chirp and talk to each other a lot all day rather than just mostly quiet and a few loud volume wise screams or whatever. And wake up early.

Buffy with her OEGB moms.

Hello everyone! We met with the agent on Friday just to discuss the whole process but we've still got little jobs to do before we are all ready to go. It's a new company that's been set up with much lower commission fees (a flat $5,000 success fee on top of the $2,500 for marketing as opposed to $27,000 - $38,000 other agencies here would charge us). That's because there is one agent looking after an area - he's not competing against anyone else within his company for listings (unlike all the rest). The people that set it up wanted a much fairer system for those selling their properties and they've invested a lot of research and money into setting it up. Hopefully they'll be successful and do well.

Glad the meeting went well Michelle. And love the Mum and baby photo - OEGBs are such good mothers.

Thanks for the info! If the parents raise them will they be friendly?

If you handled the babies daily they should trust you even if the parents don't. Wait until they are about 10 days old before starting this. Just a few minutes of handling should make them trusting, then as soon as they are weaned take them away from the parents, spend lots of time with them (but keep an eye on them that they are eating well for themselves - sometimes they can regress).

Some people find they end up with friendlier birds using the 'co-parenting' technique than hand rearing where you give the chicks a meal or two each day but leave them with their parents for the majority of the time.

Hope you are feeling better!
