The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

The fake red dye isn't what made me want to try the recipe...I was specifically interested in something that would bake up here in my altitude. All that mixing (and other factors) can cause cakes, even cupcakes, to quickly rise in the oven, then sink in the middle.

I'm running out of time to experiment, so think I'll go with the chocolate caramel cake the last batch of RHL liked plus one other dessert.

Sigh, I know, I know. It sure ain't chislic but some of us have a sweet tooth and nothing takes care of that like chocolate.

Like me! :wee

What a shame about her current house B! She certainly did a beautiful job of fixing it up. I'm sure she'll do a wonderful job of fixing up any house she ends up with...wishing her the best getting her forever home.
Did the high altitude cook book have a red velvet cake?

Her new house won't need much at all. When we looked at it she kept mumbling, "I don't need a paintbrush!" "I don't need to go out with Dad's chain saw and cut any trees down!" She marveled at it all! Ken's lodge had a meeting a couple of days ago and he told them, "I have never asked this lodge for anything, but I'm asking now. I need pickups and bodies to help Tam move stuff out of her house in Byron and at least get it into the storage shed until she can find a place." Without hesitation the guys set up a moving party and will all show up over there and do it at one time! Of course, she didn't have this house then, but she'll still need to put things in storage until the people that are in it move out. It looks empty in some photos, but when we went over for the showing that wasn't the case - the owner has transferred to Hawaii so his wife and kids had moved back in until the house sold and they could join him.

I'll try the Trulia thing again, Debby. @ronott1 said that the interior photos worked by clicking on the main photo and then clicking "show thumbnails" link. It's a cute little yellow house and totally turnkey-and-move-in.

What a cute house! Love the hardwood floors, built ins and the kitchen looks great! The previous owners sure had a green thumb, that's a terrific backyard.

What wonderful lodge brothers Ken has. I'm sure their help will be invaluable B.

Well, here I've been worrying for since yesterday day. <sigh> I must have missed that somewhere.
Me too!

Whatcha guys think of this one?
I only get everything that is for sale in the area :(

It did work? Not working on my computer. Let me double check here...
NO :hit

That worked.

:love EXCELLENT HOUSE!!!! Hopefully the mechanicals are all in good shape. I see it says there is a newer HE furnace so that is good.

The duct work in the basement isn't even dusty yet, the heating system is so new, Bruce. :lau The plumbing, roof, and electrical upgrades are so recent and up-to-code that it will easily pass FHA inspection. And the work done on it was done by various licensed contractors, which means that while there still might be some minor cosmetic issues, there aren't nearly as many as there would be if Ed Earl and his buddies did the work while downing a couple of six-packs! ;) As soon as we walked in and Tam saw the 4 season porch, she was done for! But never did we even dream that she'd quietly go ahead with the loan process...she saw the place on Zillow, asked us to come along while she looked at it, (wanted her dad to look at the electrical) then simply focused on what she had to do to make it happen.

Funny, the loan officer handling her loan had a suggestion that I think is going to work fine for Tam. She had told him her situation and why they kinda needed to push this through as quickly as possible, and he called Jennifer (the agent who sold the house Tam is currently in) to ask a few questions about the closing and the situation with Tam. When he called Tam with the approval yesterday he asked her who her buyer's agent was so he could let her know the loan went through and get the contract started. She didn't have one. He said he'd call Jennifer back - said that she felt so terrible about the way Tam was treated in the way selling her house was handled and knows her time crunch better than anyone else, and she'd most likely work triple hard to get her into this new place if for no other reason than she felt so guilty over practically throwing Tam out homeless. :fl
