The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I want to give an "atta boy" to DH.

Yesterday, on top of everything else he did, he worked in the kitchen with me last night preparing potatoes for the Cattlemen's Association dinner. We set up a folding table in the kitchen, washed, cut and cooked about 30 lbs of potatoes. I had already made the dressing, hard boiled eggs, diced the celery & onions so once the spuds were cooked and cooled, we just had to toss the potato salad all together.

Today we have 5 big smoked briskets to slice (thank goodness for a meat slicer!). I'll warm the meat and beans in the oven so when the food is picked up, it's hot.

By 4pm today, all that meat, potato salad, smokehouse beans and 2 gallons of bbq sauce will go out the door. And I'll be doing a happy dance to see it go (if I can still walk by then). Sean, I might need to borrow your crutches!
The overall end is in sight though. Keep that in mind.
Then we get our NFC back all the time!
:ya

That's really nice looking corn. The stores out here has had nothing but icky stuff.Means I can't think of real words the moderators will allow.
:gig
Yay, no more crutches! :clap
X’s 2!

I bet they’ll enjoy every last morsel :drool
A bit better, since the blood transfusion. But he refuses to sign papers covering what medical treatment he wants so its up in the air. About 30% kidney function and he doesn't want dialysis.
Can’t blame him on the dialysis...it consumes your life.

But if he doesn't have it he will die anyway.
I watched my mom go through it twice. She ended up with a kidney transplant and after 4 years a virus attacked it and she ended up on dialysis again. She asked us kids if it was ok if she quit as it was just too much having had a stroke and she wouldn’t be able to walk again. We told her it was ok. She would have kept on if we hadn’t. Your FIL may change his mind. How is his health otherwise?

Not good, heart issues and incontinence.

Cap, I loved the “hubby’s home” part but not the rest. My sister Linda was on dialysis for 4 years. Toward the end of her life, after our big scare with her in May of last year, she came right out and said that in most ways she wished she hadn’t ever consented to start it. But that’s such a personal decision and your hubby’s dad is calling the shots right now. Sending hugs and prayers!

Nope, no time to rest when we get back. We get home on Tuesday and on Sunday we leave for Jackson, Pinedale, and Evanston to start Ken’s official Grand Master’s visitations. We’ll be gone for 6 days. We try to do the ones in the West and Southwest quadrants while the East and South Yellowstone gates are still open. Tourist travel slows us down going down that way, but it’s still the shortest and fastest way to access those quadrants and we’re done with that section before the snow flies. By the end of his year, we will have visited every Lodge in the state, attended installations for the appendant bodies (Shrine, Eastern Star, Job’s Daughters, DeMolay, etc) as well as the Grand Lodges in the western states and as far to the east as Minnesota. <Insert Deep breath here..> Then there’s the Scottish Rite visits, the York Rite visits, the trip to Washington DC for 5 days to set up the Wyoming display at the George Washington Memorial Lodge (or whatever that’s called) the 4 day Grand Masters’ Conference in Rapid City, the 4 day Rocky Mountain Conference in Salt Lake, and how could I forget 5 days at Grand Sessions in Casper the second week of this September. Yeah.

Can’t forget the kids trip to Denver in September (we’ve got Katie) and Tam closes on her house on the 17th of this month. As soon as the repairs are done we’ll be helping her move in. Other than that, not much going on. This is why I foresee not being able to post enough to get my 5 year BYC banner. I wonder if they count popping in, saying “hi” then popping back out as a whole post?
