The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Cap, I loved the “hubby’s home” part but not the rest. My sister Linda was on dialysis for 4 years. Toward the end of her life, after our big scare with her in May of last year, she came right out and said that in most ways she wished she hadn’t ever consented to start it. But that’s such a personal decision and your hubby’s dad is calling the shots right now. Sending hugs and prayers!

Nope, no time to rest when we get back. We get home on Tuesday and on Sunday we leave for Jackson, Pinedale, and Evanston to start Ken’s official Grand Master’s visitations. We’ll be gone for 6 days. We try to do the ones in the West and Southwest quadrants while the East and South Yellowstone gates are still open. Tourist travel slows us down going down that way, but it’s still the shortest and fastest way to access those quadrants and we’re done with that section before the snow flies. By the end of his year, we will have visited every Lodge in the state, attended installations for the appendant bodies (Shrine, Eastern Star, Job’s Daughters, DeMolay, etc) as well as the Grand Lodges in the western states and as far to the east as Minnesota. <Insert Deep breath here..> Then there’s the Scottish Rite visits, the York Rite visits, the trip to Washington DC for 5 days to set up the Wyoming display at the George Washington Memorial Lodge (or whatever that’s called) the 4 day Grand Masters’ Conference in Rapid City, the 4 day Rocky Mountain Conference in Salt Lake, and how could I forget 5 days at Grand Sessions in Casper the second week of this September. Yeah.

Can’t forget the kids trip to Denver in September (we’ve got Katie) and Tam closes on her house on the 17th of this month. As soon as the repairs are done we’ll be helping her move in. Other than that, not much going on. This is why I foresee not being able to post enough to get my 5 year BYC banner. I wonder if they count popping in, saying “hi” then popping back out as a whole post?
I bet it counts.

What days are you going to be in Casper Blooie?

We husked all this plus 3 tidy cat buckets full. I didn’t get done cleaning my kitchen until 11:00 as I wasn’t leaving that sticky mess for the morning. I bagged 36-2 cup bags and have 2 large roasters to bag yet. I couldn’t do anymore last night. My back is wanting to go out so must have tweeked it picking it, might be a long cleaning day today.

I'm jealous...

Diva, are you reading these posts? ;) Prepping huge amount of corn, knocking down chimneys, preparing gianormous feasts, taking care of the flocks with a bum hip, and all the other stuff that these characters are getting done and you say that I'm busy? I get exhausted just reading all of these activities!! :th

I'm starving right now...:drool

GM visits are to DeMolay Chapters... Never had one in my lifetime.

Wow you're going to be busy!! And yes I think it does count. I think it's any post. But it's obviously hard when you want to do more than just say hi and don't have time, I'm guilty of that but I also write novels :lau

Also I know this is extremely random but you mentioned the gates closing, when do they close? Do you think it's too late or hot to go now? I need to go on a trip and thinking out West somewhere cause I've never been. Never been further East than PA actually :gigso thinking like Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and/or Yellowstone or Pacific Northwest like Oregon and/or Washington but idk if those would be safe with the fires? Idk exactly where the fires are, I know California but maybe smoke reaches. And I know a lot of gorgeous places in Oregon burned last year.

See, rambling and mini novel again already

The East gate to the Park usually closes around mid-September, depending also on snowfall, and the South Gate between Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park is on about the time schedule. I’m not sure about the other entrances - you could Google seasonal closures and get a better idea. Spring and fall are the best times to visit, I’ve always thought. Less traffic and the colors are amazing.

But if he doesn't have it he will die anyway.
It would seem that is the decision he has made. Much as I might love someone, I wouldn't pressure them to live in serious discomfort just because I will miss them. Hard no matter what.

And the trip to Vermont, don't forget the trip to Vermont! ;)

Definitely good to visit National Parks when school is in session. WAY fewer people to fight your way through to see the sights.

I am not pressuring any one, nor is hubby. It just seems odd to me to refuse dialysis but then not decide if you want CPR if something happens. I think dementia is in play there.
