The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

It all depends on what we're comparing to. If compared to the factory way better. If compared to what I did before I moved to TN, it's easy and requires mental work, but not the same. But not something I need or really want anymore. In my old life I was the boss. I had a team of 150 great professionals who did an amazing job. After we lost the contract, my most impressive feat was to ensure all of them had a soft landing. Ironically, I'm still in contact with my old customers who are all unhappy with the new contractor. But the whole thing was political... Had the contract for 13 years, way too long in the eyes of the feds. So a change was needed.
Never was the boss... But worked my way up to Manufacturing Engineer .... Worked Government Contracts and Bio-med contracts... I worked mostly as a contractor... went direct with many... Ranging from Aerospace to Tooling for production lines....

In San Diego you have to Wear alot of hats in order to not become a roving contractor... Some of those guys lived in motor homes....

Sorry about the harvest DMC, that's a "don't like" for sure.
Thanks Debby!:hugs
naaa, been running barefooted my entire life, only time i wore shoes was for school and grocery store (no shoes, shirt, no service) and even when i wore shoes, its was sandals
I had to wear real shoes today instead of flip flops, ugh...socks too:gigIt got cold here.

i firmly believe, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, one of the feds might have a friend in one of the new company's owners
Usually its the bean counters ... Cronyism is not un heard of... In my case all the manufacturing jobs were sold off to other countries...

Actually, given they are an invasive species I doubt the govt would care if some of them died before they got to old age.

We have a contract on a house in Casper! Should be closing around the 1st week of November :)

1414 Bon Ave..jpg

It's a 1950's brick ranch, 3 bedrooms, big kitchen, hardwood floors in most rooms, fenced back yard, detached garage. It needs some attention (maybe more than we currently think right now) but it's a cute one!

We're going to work on it this winter, at least all the indoor stuff. The outside stuff can wait until spring.

Originally we tried to get a house in Cody, but the one we bid on was lost to someone that was buying the house with cash. Cody is where we ultimately want to end up, but for now, Casper works!

Casper is closer to where you are now right? Easier to work on it that way. Planning to sell it later to buy a retirement home in Cody (which is WAY closer to @Blooie)?

Yes and Yes!

DH will keep his golf course superintendent job because that's year-round, but I'm at loose ends over the winter.

Too, the house we currently live in is owned by the company we both work for, so our living here is a job benefit. If (heaven forbid) anything happened with DH's job, we would not have a roof over our heads. The new/old house is good insurance against homelessness and I'm all in favor about that :thumbsup

What have you set Cap? Is it your Polish?

They are one of the smallest working dogs at 12-18 pounds but if they’ll take on an Aussie snake they must be pretty brave, and they’ll take down rabbits. There are lots of terrier breeds in the mix but the Yorkie is definitely in there. I started out wanting a Norfolk terrier only to find no one breeds them here, but the Aussie is similar looking to them too.

They were developed to keep pest animals at bay as Australia is very similar to here in that respect with rodents and rabbits going nuts. I just wish they could climb trees. Australian brush tailed possum were introduced here for the fur they produced. They are now a major pest here because they destroy native forests and out compete our native birds for resources. And they’ll be into my future fruit orchard I’m sure!

Seems like a small yard for chicken keeping...

It is, but I won't have my chickens up there this winter. DH's assistant is going to watch over my girls while we're gone (he's done it before).

This isn't going to be a "forever" home...more of a "for now" home.
