Driving 20 minutes to get to the T is nothing compared to driving INTO Boston. When I took DD2 to Boston to turn in her paperwork for a visa at the Japanese Consulate the last 3 miles took half an hour. And she was driving :gigThe plan was to switch drivers when we got close to Boston. But by then we were stuck, she was NOT pleased.

How far is it from the power lines to where you would put a house? Get a general estimate of the cost to bring power in, usually done by the foot or other measurement. Maybe by the meter there. A view of an estuary would be very nice. All the wildlife that you would see!

It's very tempting I have to say but we'd have to price it out. It's a very long way to the nearest power pole and my sister is currently building and it was $90 per meter to get power to their place. So I'd say we would have to do solar in that situation. DH would like to look into wind generated power as well. We'd want it to be fenced before we bought it as that's another huge expense, and there's one lovely site that's already pretty flat but we'd need the 'driveway' extended to reach it. Plus we'd have to find out what the council rates would be and whether we could afford them. So there's a few things to nut out. It certainly was beautiful. I'm just trying to think what to do to make it generate some money (not being a farmer - not yet at least).

That's true, driving in Boston can be a real pain. And oh wow! That's awful lol

Don't forget to include Denver, CO in that bad traffic mix. Ever since pot was legalized, the city has been over run with new residents. Traffic is a nightmare...bad enough, long time residents are moving out (and making a lot of money on selling their homes).

Or Seattle. Evidently I5 backups are comparable to L.A. traffic.

Last time I was in Boston I took a cab, glad I did as it was the year Boston Won the Series. The place was a total zoo. But the hotel was cool, they basically opened the bar as a free self serve bar.

The whole tourisim thing for me Is me observing the tourists and chatting with people new to town I am a San Diego buff... Love this place even with its warts. I know alot of the history surrounding the San Diego area.... From the wooden road that crossed the desert to get here back in the twenties, The butterfield Stage route... Wyatt Earps Card parlors.... Buffalo soldiers... Spanish American War Battles.... Otay Mesa, San Pasqual, The missions ... the first mission in California was in San Diego... Mission De Alcala....

That's a good point! Lol when I rpad it I didn't find it so bad but definitely crowded and lots of stairs. They do have bike cart tours at least in Boston lol some poor sap pedals the bike and there is a cart attached to it. Like horse carriage but human powered lol they must be in good shape doing that all day. They also have horse carriages. But of course some of these are expensive. Maybe you could taxi to some of the locations? I have only walked the Freedom Trail like once or maybe a couple times and I don't think I've ever even finished it.

And wow you know a lot of the history, that is so interesting. Although then again I know somewhat a lot of the history around here. I guess it's what you grew up with.

BTW, Deb, I spent several months in San Diego about 14 years ago, hated the traffic. I've also been to LA dozens of times, last few went taxi only. Not only is the traffic horrible, you have to eat your car when you get to the destination as there's no parking. Same problem in DC. More cars than parking.

ETA: Also spent some time in the SF area. Many Many years ago and then just recently. Once you get out of the city the traffic wasn't bad. In the city it's just horrible as is parking. Parking tends to be the number one traffic killer.
