The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

:frow didnt try to catchup did I miss anything....

This week has been partially good and partially horrific...

My usual I guess....:gig

Yeah, I noticed you’d said something similar on another thread but didn’t think it was an appropriate place to ask? What’s going on, if you don’t mind sharing? If you’d rather not, that’s okay too. We don’t know to know details to pray for you.....you and the Good Lord know what’s happening and that’s good enough for me! :hugs

yes, thanks for the advice, i already noticed that besides the dry eye that on her feet she has "black areas" and looks licked raw, sadie mae licked her feet the same way and i had to get medicated shampoo, it might have been a bacterial or a fungal infection, can't remember. i also need to put her on a diet which is going to be harder than hello since i'm the same way, lady told me that she only had one litter cause one pup had a spaded leg and it kept getting worse so only one litter, she also said that all the breeders wanted her for a breeder but she wanted to keep good lines not ones that threw pups with problems, happy for that, she wanted a family that just wanted a pet. alot of breeders are just in it for the money otherwise we wouldn't have puppy mills. gonna change her name from brenda to bella, she seems to be warming up to us, got to say, love this dog already, i guess i was ready for another one after sadie mae

Yep, you were ready! She’s so doggone cute! Didn’t mean to sound pushy and know-it-all about the skin thing....sorry if I did. Yeah, it was 3 years after we lost Molly before we could even think of another dog, but we knew it wouldn’t be smart to get one just as Ken was going into the frenzy and traveling of his Grand Lodge positions. A wolfhound had been a 30+ year dream of ours, and the timing sucked, but suddenly here she is! At first we didn’t have to board her because Tam was living here, but as it’s turned out, we hit on the perfect boarding kennel! I wish the one I’d managed had been run like this one, but I was just the SLJO there and had to follow the dictates of the vets who owned it. Fee loves it there - plenty of time to romp out in the huge fenced yard with compatable dogs so the socialization with others has been wonderful. It’s scrupulously clean, she’s well cared for, and they just love her. She even gets to spend time in the office so she’s also well socialized to lots of other people coming and going. We lucked out.

Don’t you love it whenever a breeder “gets it” and has some ethics? Cari wouldn’t sell the puppy with the heart murmur even though people who looked at her really wanted her and were willing to undertake any vet care the pup might need as she grew. And the vet told Cari that she might outgrow the murmur. But Cari kept the pup, had her spayed, and did some investigating with the sire’s owner and back into Dixie’s lines and there’d never been a reported heart issue. But, as Cari said, “no reported issues” could mean someone’s dog had one and it was never reported, it doesn’t mean there’s was never a previous issue. So Mom and daughter went in for spaying, and while she couldn’t order others who got puppies from her to spay or neuter because they went out on open contracts, a few of them them did. Two of them are being trained in coursing, one is being trained as a service dog, (a true service dog, no internet purchased harness involved), one planned to show his in conformation (he took 2 males) and the others were sold as pets like Feefer. Gotta love ethics! This is Fiona’s family - she’s in a pink collar but you can’t see it in this photo, that’s her on the far left. Size of the litter was a bit surprising, even to the vet!

no, you didn't sound pushy, just helpful, never too old to learn and i've never did any thing but pets and an occasional pup. i had to work my way up to a english, first bostons, the sadie mae,a frenchie and now (decided to call her bella not brenda), like i said, never to old to learn.
i got a appt with the vet this afternoon at 1:45 to check her out and maybe medicine for dry eye and fungus (?) on feet, also will talk to him about spaying her, he does it for 175.00 unless shes over 71 lbs:fl i do know shes starting to rear up on me once in a while and if i'm not braced, she rocks me
yes, i think this breeder gets it, she told us she paid 3500.00 for bella as a pup because of her bloodlines and her confirmation(?) bred her and found out that because of the one pup's leg being that way she didn't want to breed her again so she put her up for sale and i seemed the first one who just wanted a pet, i got her cheap i think (800.00) all the others were breeders that drooled over her. she's such a sweetie and getting use to us, don't think it will take long for her to adjust to being a pet.
your fee is a gorgeous dog, many years ago i wanted a irish but now i think she would be too large for us, but still like the looks of them:love

My sister just got 2 kittens from us, her girl is named Bella. Pretty name. We had a bull dog when I was in high school. His name was Skeeter.
