The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

y'all have to let me know when you're going thru, and maybe swing by for coffee or diet mt.dew lol, our place is off 83, we're on lake juniper, we usually down here from dec to april or beginning of may, you're welcome anytime
We will sure take you up on that offer! It will be just about time for a nice coffee break on that drive. Maybe heading down pretty soon to get those Call ducks if the lady I talked to still wants to place them with me.

65° and sunny down here in the dirty deep south. Moved to Opelika,Al last November when I married " the sweetest man I know" moved into his home and realized that I don't know one single soul anywhere near! Odd for me,but when I left Baton Rouge I left a huge base of dear, dear friends:some of whom had become the family I never had. No kids, both parents deceased, and 1 uncle (now also deceased) and 1 aunt in WA. state.
Never saw it to be an issue cause I worked 10 hour days and volunteered at an animal rescue. Now I don't work owing to health issues. So hubs got me the flock of chooks that were my lifelong dream! That's how I found y'all. Guess what I'm saying is "Thank you for being here!" You have become friends and have provided valued info to help me keep my little flock healthy and all of us happy!

Yay, you found us! :woot

My boss did give me the best Christmas present though. Currently they only serve store bought pies and muffins. In the new year I'm going to start being an in house baker!

Michelle, that's fantastic news! You'll have a chance to show them what you have and try some new stuff too. Keep us posted on how it goes for you! :ya

I love baking! Made a sweet potato pie for dinner at SILs yesterday and making a cherry pie to take to BILs dinner in Atlanta this weekend. I drain a jar of Maraschino cherries and add to the pie filling to fancy it up some. Also doing a lattice top for this one...my mom could kill it on cherry pies,so its gotta be a good one, right?!

I bake a lot too. A couple years ago I was the baker for our bbq restaurant (last year I did all the cooking). Another thread you might like to check out is this:
Any Home Bakers Here?
Bob (rjohns39), Ron (ronott1) and I worked on the thread index this winter and there are a ton of recipes there. Plus it's fun to see what everyone gets up to in the kitchen!

Orange Ginger bread.jpg
Oooooh the baker's thread... Thanks to the peeps out there I've been willing to go way outside my comfort zone. I'm a weirdo and bought my own non-GMO wheat and spelt an have been baking my own bread for almost a year thanks to these peeps.
I used Einkorn grain to make flour for the Ginger Orange Bread. It is a nice mild yellow color with a nutty taste.

Hey Blooie! We spoke briefly (not about underwear...) on your thread re.autism and Dr. Temple Grandin. I was introduced to your amazing grandkids and your formidable writing ability!
Never got the chance to tell you that I lived in Riverton,WY. for a while as a kid. My gramma took me in when my folks split up. That was the coldest Halloween I ever lived thru'..

Talk about "it's a small world"...my sister lived in AL for 14 years (Sylacauga) and my brother used to live in Riverton. My DH and I moved from FL to Wyoming in 2016, we're down in the south/central part. Or as some folks call it...the ugly part. :lau

You're way too modest Bob...you're a very talented baker and all round smart guy. That index would still be moldering away if you hadn't tackled it and wrestled it to the ground!

Welcome to the thread @Bamabexchicks , glad to have you here with us. Promise, we won't get tired of seeing pics of ducks or whatever you want to share! ;)

Michelle, that's fantastic!

Debby, hope you keep the snow up there this time. We're just having sever thunderstorms and tornado warnings, :barnieI hate El Nino years....except for the rain part, no tornados, please!

Our snow quit for about 30 minutes and started up again. What I shoveled this morning is all covered up again. Glad I already took care of the flock's water and food for the day.

x2 on NO tornados, you do not need those! (Actually, I guess no one does)
