To top it off, we were informed that there is sheets of asbestos under our hardwood floors. :barnie
ASSUMING you are not removing the hardwood, I think the asbestos is best left underneath. Doing no harm there.

Thinking $25/chick for 3 weeks.
$25 for a non sexed 3 week old chick? Don't know about anyone else but that is about the max I would consider paying for a guaranteed pullet pushing up toward laying age.

Agreed. Unless it’s a really rare breed or something, that does seem kind of high for a chick.

I'll run the brooders on solar. Also, MHPs and plates use a lot less power. As for the feed, that will be factored into the brooding price. Thinking $25/chick for 3 weeks.
Good luck. Lots of people won't pay $25 for a pullet near POL. But i don't know your area. I hope you do well.

i had one given to me years ago, a friend passed away and it was hers, she only used it a couple of times and when i told her husband i would buy from him, he told me i just have it, the next day he brought it to me, can't ask for better than that, she died in 2001 of spine cancer and i still miss her so much:hit
Sorry you lost your friend!

Tomorrow is hatch day, about 7 or so eggs left to hatch and one is pipped . It may be shrink wrapped since the humidity dropped before i took the chicks out of the bator. I will help it if it is not out by morning. All 4 of the cream legbar chicks are boys:(

I am excited to get my Speckled Sussex in April!! Never had one before but always wanted one. Now I finally get to have one. :D along with 4 other chicks. Another EE, a Delaware, a White Leghorn, and a Partridge Rock, another one I am super excited about. I love my Barred Rock so wanted to try another color Rock. From Meyer again. Love my first Meyer chicks. :D they turned 3 on October 26th so I need some new egg layers lol still only have one EE laying.
