The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Good morning all! I'm barely keeping up here! With the new puppy and ducklings we also added a Blue Front Amazon parrot to the family. She is still settling in, and has been sort of neglected, so is nervous and unsure of her surroundings right now. She was shut away in a back room with no company and is getting used to the comings and goings here. I will post some pics in a couple days.

Lol! I cant wait! I had to rehome all of my birds when I moved to Louisiana. My Mealy Amazon was in his 30s, and I interview several people before I accepted an application for his new person. Did not accept the highest bidder, but the best fit for him.

Also rehomed my 22 year old cockatiel with a lady who understood how to care for geriatric birds. I missed my birds.

She is so smart. Really knows we mean well, but also has her own mind. She is already asking for head skrittches!

Very high energy compared to my old Mealy, he was laid back. Likes women more than men and poor hubs is trying soooo hard! Her life is only getting better, she just hates change!

Hello, i got most of the stuff ready for the swap tomorrow, except not sure where the bantam cochin rooster went when he escaped! I looked for him after dark, but not finding him. He was hanging out by the driveway.

I went out searching, found him in the middle of a big wild rose thicket! Grabbed him by a wing, he yelled so loud hubby heard him inside the house!

I've spent all day cleaning and sorting. We have the last inspection on Monday (to make sure everything is as it should be and we haven't been putting holes in the walls). Tomorrow (Sunday) is the day we will be taking most of the birds up to their new aviaries.

We'll keep Chilly, Hawkmoth and babies inside in a cage until Wednesday when we make the big move (with dog and cats and stuff - and kids - thankfully my parents will be helping too). I'm slightly nervous about leaving Chilly unattended while we are away all day, having moved them inside, but I'll put them in the room they used to be in so hopefully it will be familiar territory. Fingers crossed we won't come back to plucked babies. Our other pair will be a bit lonely for a few days but it is only for 3 days. Hopefully they'll forgive us and my sister and her kids will go up and check on them.

Not sure if I'll get a chance to take any photos of these little cuties tomorrow but here are some cute ones from today:

I know its unnerving to leave them alone, but I feel like they may be past the stage in their feathering where he wont be preening them as much. They should be fine.

It looks like Dawn's cheek patches are brighter orange than Dusk's. That's one way to tell if it's a boy. Females have pastel orange cheeks.
