The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

TSC has more chicks in :love they are not 75% off though. I figure maybe before they were trying to get rid of the older chicks. Idk. But they have really good breeds this time!! Sexed RIR and Australorps and straight run Orpingtons, all in the same bin, and then straight run bantams, and Cornish Rocks. Not really interested in those last two. But it would be cool to get some more Orpingtons or Australorps or try some RIR... but I have enough chicks lol plus the Orps are straight run and I couldn’t get rid of them once I got attached :hit

Good morning everyone!

I got a nice phone call at work yesterday :) I've been asked to fix a department luncheon for 30 people this coming Thursday...the whole works, pulled pork, sliced brisket, cole slaw and some sort of little dessert. My first big one of this season! These things are quite a bit of work but the money is good :D

What does everyone have planned for the weekend? Things are looking good weather-wise here which will be nice!

Have a great day you all :frow
congrats, may everything go smoothly for you

I suppose they could do it that way, Bruce, but why chip a little at a time off Katie’s settlement for something they’d be buying anyway?
Well I figured that since money is tight, some of Katie's 'maintenance' could be covered by the settlement, that would leave more money for necessary home repairs or whatever.

The way I read your post such things as groceries were not allowed by the terms of the settlement. But maybe I just read it wrong and K, J & Katie have chosen to use the money only for things other than "normal maintenance".

Sounds like when one of my hens lays an egg and comes out of the barn looking and calling to the other birds. Do they ever say "we're over here"? HECK NO.

Well at least you know he made it another year.

:(
But I know you have been waiting for it.

Very good news for Katie!
But she has to eat right, you specified that the money can't be used for groceries. I realize they are saying it can't be used to provide things for other members of the family but couldn't they divide the usual costs of the household by 4 and pay for Katie's share with her money?

Yeah, you can't be bothering them when they are in bed so you might as well go to bed at the same time.

That is WHY it keeps coming up!

That is even more sad. There are people who will pay good money for old barn boards and beams.

Heck with that, how is the poor bird???

Beautiful dog. AND given his breed he can be small but not have the "small dog attitude".
When do he and Fiona get to meet?

I had mine in a box that was 18" high. I was still a bit concerned when one of them learned how to jump from the top of the brooder to the top of the waterer which was in the corner of the box. Fortunately she never checked out that option. But they went out to the barn at about 3 days so no escapees in the house.

Hopefully the food delivery will come this time!

Might depend if you can get them all to the golf course.

Must have been a pretty empty plate, no wonder she was booted ;)

Yeah, they never call back!! Even the adults! Mine get separated free ranging sometimes and freak and like you said, they never let them know where they are! Lol so mean

And I think you forgot a reply! Quoted my thing about Idaho but no reply lol lumped in with the barn one. But you sure had a lot of catching up to do!! Likely done very quickly! :p

And the brooder itself is quite high, big huge storage bin, but I believe they jumped on top of MHP and then escaped because it is a lot shorter distance to the top from there. Probably jumped on MHP then maybe jumped onto the edge of the box then must have dropped down to the hardwood floor from there  chick appears fine though. Mine is probably also 18 inches. They are moving out Monday though. Was going to be today because it got sunny instead of raining but then I was gone all day and didn’t have a chance. And then tomorrow I think it is supposed to pour rain all day. If it does not, I may move them out. But if it does, then Monday it is. They will be a week old. So far no more escapees though.

I don't know about Idaho, only drove across the top part once on a family trip and that was about 45 years ago. I think you'll find that EVERYWHERE puts their best foot forward in any publication. You won't see pictures of destroyed homes from a hurricane or a tornado. They aren't going to show the over population and brown of So. Cal. any more than they will show the traffic in Boston where it takes an hour to drive just a few miles. Most big cities/overpopulated places are like that of course. If you want to see what a place is really like, go in the "off season", in fact go in every season if you are seriously considering a specific city/state. Use the Google satellite view to get an idea of population density.

Thank you!!! This is really helpful!! I never thought of using Google satellite view on certain cities!! And yes, I definitely need to visit more places!!! Tourist season is picking up nearby in Plymouth. I should probably visit a lot more places.

Although now I am not entirely sure I should move away. Maybe I should stay nearby and expand my dog business. Although it is soooo expensive here. There is a new place opening nearby though, they are revamping an old industrial park/factory type area on the water, but I bet it’ll be a fortune because of being on the water and near downtown and they’re making it kind of resort style-y. No price listed online. But maybe I should call and get on a list or something before construction is complete. It’s close enough to my current clients and I could get a lot more.
