The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Thank you, Debby. We were completely unprepared for how quickly she went down hill. I'm not sure you could ever prepare yourself for that. Leaves a lot of unanswered questions and regrets.

Thank you. I'm sure glad we did, too. I don't think you ever have enough time no matter when the day comes. Just need to remember to enjoy our people as much as possible while they are here.

No, we're never 'prepared' no ,matter how much time in advance we have. Just know you were together at the end and be grateful for the time you had. Regrets are not necessary, I'm sure your mother knew you loved her.

And absolutely, remember to enjoy the ones we care about while we can :hugs

for those who dont know I am headed for Bariatric surgery tomorro AM. Had to go off Nsaids (alieve) to reduce the risk of bleeding. When I started this journey I was 378 pounds... 57 BMI... To give you an idea obese starts at 30 BMI.

As it is I had to go through Dietitian guided three month diet. To be approved by the insurance .... I lost forty pounds... Approvals from, primary Doctor, Gi Doctor, and Cardiologist.

I have type two Diabetes, Highblood pressure (at one point 200+), My heart is like old leather they expected it to be enlarged but its more like Old harness leather.... Not much flexibility. Ad to that Depression coupled with Anxiety.

My pain level on many days is past a ten... But I had to go off Nsaids a week before Surgery... Last night was the worst.

Spent the last two weeks on a liver reduction Semi Liquid diet. Three protien shakes one regular meal... Not too bad. Had to go off coffee.... Another awful one...

But I think I have lost another ten pounds... I can see my ankles and the tops of my feet arent stretched like drums and I can wiggle my toes... We'll see when they weigh me tomorrow at 6:30 am.

Gastric sleeve surgery isnt untill 8:30 but they want me there to start walking before surgery... I dont know how much they expect my Knee pain and back pain May cut it short.

Then after surgery as soon as I wake up they will have me walking... And from what I hear the Charge nurses will get me up and have me walk every half hour.

Prognosis after the first year is I will have lost 70 percent of the 228 pounds I need to lose. The Diabetis will come under control within a couple of months... The High blood pressure as well. My heart will not have to work so hard to pump blood so it will soften up ....

Finally I will be walking and moving somewhat as I did thirty years ago. I have good expectations for that but am relistic... My life with horses has left me with the knee and back pain so will be dealing with pain on a more conservative level.

Wow I wrote a book. I have never strung all the pieces together till now.

I hope this works. I had a little trouble with the link the first couple of times I tried it. My daughter Terri just sent me this link and I am here in tears. It breaks my heart to know how much her mental illness has stolen from her....from all of us.

B, knowing the people you & Ken are, you did all you could for each member of your family, ill or not. Mental illness is a devil of a disease and can be hardest on the ones in the family that don't have it. Cry if you have to then wipe your eyes and go hug everyone else that means something to you. :hugs

Great idea! Are you going to start from ground up? Or re-do what you have?

Ground up.... Re-purposing what I have... countless Dog kennel panels. Aviary panels and enough tin to make a roof... Though I will have to buy enough to cover a 12 x 16 section. I also have enough Garage doors to make the Wind break walls... East and west sides.

Location will change as well so that I can do a waterline from the mains past the Coop and Horse corral leaving ma a faucet over by the storage container. About two hundred linear feet.

And no I dont work hard I work smart... kennel panels are self supporting assembly will be just a couple of clamp bolts at each intersection... and I can drag them in place with my garden tractor. Then all I have to do is stand them up and zip tie to hold them in place while I fiddle with the bolts.

I will have to get creative with the roof still havent figured that one out yet. But I will get some one young and nimble to help me....

Oh and when its all done it will be a poultry house with a space as a workshop.
