The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

B, if I ever have to go to a senior's home, I hope someone like Tam will be there. What a wonderful, caring person (I think she must take after her mother).

About that lighthouse, better put a black tie on it so you don't get fined!

:thumbsup :clap Hear hear!

Definitely a good point and I hadn’t thought of it. Though I did still do all my stuff when I got home. As soon as I was um able ha

Thanks, that makes total sense, and I can totally see how that would happen but I’ve never been sick in new environments before or experienced anything like that before so I really think it was just food poisoning or something. Especially considering my dad and I both had the exact same symptoms at the same time and it started only a few hours after we ate out. We went to dinner like 8 or so or maybe a bit before so probably eating between then and 9ish. My dad started getting sick by like 11 or 12, I was fine until about 3:30. But it started mere hours after we ate the same thing so idk. Could be the new location thing too but I now think I was just being paranoid and it probably was food poisoning. Especially because we all ordered different things but had one thing in common: the smoked salmon at this barbecue place. And it was delicious so my dad and I both ate a lot of it. My mom only had a few bites. I didn’t order it but my mom and dad did and my other food was kinda weird so my mom gave me most of her salmon (she got a combo platter with a ton of chicken too so it was fine. And I still ate my food) and I liked it so I ate it as did my dad. We both got extremely sick. My mom got a little nauseous today but nothing like we were and I believe that’s because she only had a few bites of it. But we all have the same food in common and it happened hours after we ate said food which is kind of weird if it’s the location thing. Especially since I’m completely fine now. Besides still being a little achey/sore still and burning up. And binging on a migraine but I believe that’s from said burning up and just sitting around trying to cool off. But the actual sickness part is gone. And now that it’s cooling off I might go back outside for a bit. But idk, I do appreciate the help in trying to figure it out, and I definitely can be a hypochondriac sometimes and/or panic and freak out over nothing which is definitely what I was doing with the chest thing and dehydration and stuff, it’s an easy enough fix and I was probably freaking out over nothing, but I’ve also had heat stroke before which was not fun at all and known people who have had to be IV’d for dehydration so I guess I am just a little more paranoid than most. The anxiety also contributes to that. And a lot of other problems. Honestly that probably does effect my health. I freak out over a lot of stuff/am generally pretty stressed out which probably does not help anything and I’ll also be the first one to admit I kind of sort of might have a major problem with health anxiety and manage to freak out and work myself into panic attacks over stupid stuff quite a bit. Which I definitely need to work on. And I am trying to. But it’s hard. But anyway, all the little stuff after was stupid, cause of course I won’t need to be hospitalized if I just keep drinking/ingesting fluids and electrolytes and the chest thing is probably just my asthma but I honestly think that probably contributed at least a little bit to the anxiety because it was so tight and I felt I couldn’t breathe which may have caused some panic but now it’s better. Still a little tight but better. So I’m over it now, thanks. Oh and also I know it sounds like I panicked and freaked out on here and stuff, which I totally did, but I did still do all my responsibilities when I got home. I didn’t just plant in front of the TV or phone and ignore the animals or quit caring for them or anything. I did all that first and then sat down. And honestly normally no matter how sick I am I always do that first but this time.... idk. I’ve never been that sick before. The aches and all that stuff I was over reacting. And I do have an extremely low pain tolerance tbh. :lau  sometimes I can be a huge baby. I admit that lol but I swear this one I am not exaggerating how extremely sick I was last night and into this morning ha my dad can vouch :lau I think possibly being that sick made me a little more anxious or under the weather mentally or something cause I feel like I freaked out more than normal over the extremely minor (in comparison) symptoms but it was miserable this morning haha but I’m on the up and up I think haha oh and also even though I freaked out, sometimes I think I also kind of freak out because I’m paranoid about what if I thought it was nothing and didn’t do anything but then it was actually something serious. Lots of cases like that. Might be part of why I sometimes have such bad anxiety over it. Or maybe it’s just my personality haha I do find that really interesting about the new environment thing though because I never would have guessed and it’s so odd yet interesting but makes sense. But the weird thing is I’ve always been fine. I mean, I’ve been to Canada, Florida, and the Bahamas at least a few times each, all over all of the New England states tons (well, haven’t been to some of them as much), New York (including NYC several times), Pennsylvania tons, airplanes, trains, cars, etc. and I’ve never once gotten sick. Even when I first moved into college I was fine. The most I ever get is sometimes I get a migraine or something. But I never get violently ill like that and barely even get colds. I’ve had the flu several times and that’s miserable too but even then I’ve never been that violently ill. Although I did get food poisoning one other time and that really sucked too but was still nothing compared to this. So idk it’s weird. I do wonder though, if maybe the other places aren’t new and there aren’t new pathogens there since I’ve been there so many times?? Like PA I’ve been to a million times and the college was in PA so maybe that’s why? Cause I’ve never once been to Long Island before and it is an island so I wonder if maybe it could be the location thing since I’ve never been there?? And we took a ferry over both ways. I do find it kind of odd though that my dad got the exact same symptoms at the exact same time. And that it wasn’t until the last day/night. Very odd for sure ha also my dad is still in bed. And he has been extremely vocal about it the whole time, complaining and moaning and such, and having to let everyone know how sick he is constantly, while I didn’t even wake anyone up when I got sick all those times and just fixed myself up and got back in bed every time so I don’t always make a huge deal out of stuff. Not that my way is better or anything, I mean it is a nasty illness, so maybe I should complain, but I’m not normally much of a complainer. Even when I work myself into panic attacks I usually just deal with it myself and don’t tell anyone and then I’m fine eventually. This time I did mention it but mostly just because I wanted to be careful and make sure that it was nothing. Figured it probably was but felt really bad, worse than usual, and didn’t want to just dismiss it if it was actually a problem. That thing about salatin is interesting too though. I didn’t realize he had interns.

I should probably break this up since I know no one will read it like this but I wouldn’t even know where to begin haha I kind of turned full ramble, possibly one of my worst because the stuff all runs together/comes back to similar topics sometimes so harder to break up ha but I can try later

So a couple of weeks ago I managed to take a big chunk about 1 1/2" out of my thumb using a mandolin at work slicing onions. My favorite coworker got me patched up very well.

Today I did this...

Here's a tip you should all take to heart...beware of lava hot bbq sauce cooking on the range! And again, my favorite coworker played medic. I told DH that gal needs a new job title and raise!
(And yes, that is green painters tape securing the burn wrapping. It was all we could quickly find. )
