The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

So a couple of weeks ago I managed to take a big chunk about 1 1/2" out of my thumb using a mandolin at work slicing onions. My favorite coworker got me patched up very well.

Today I did this...

Here's a tip you should all take to heart...beware of lava hot bbq sauce cooking on the range! And again, my favorite coworker played medic. I told DH that gal needs a new job title and raise!
(And yes, that is green painters tape securing the burn wrapping. It was all we could quickly find. )
I can imagine how that hurt, uffda!
Between the chopping and burning, I'm beginning to think this cooking stuff is hazardous to my health. Might be time to re-think my career choices :gig
When I worked at Subway the knives would get dull and not cut the bread without tearing but would slice the heck out of a finger. I always warned when I put out new knives cuz they were deadly.
OMG, that's so gross! Funny, but :sick :lau
x’s 2!

Nah, you usually make too much sense.

Debby, yeah,um, I think that’s enough now.

Ken did the “slice on the mandolin” thing once too. I was in Salt Lake taking Kendra to Shriners. Little Diane was living with us at the time. The night before I left, I’d made roast beef, so naturally the next day roast beef hash was on the menu for them. Ken was using the mandolin to slice the potatoes and yep.... I got a call from Diane saying he was bleeding something awful and asking where I kept the bandaids. (Same darned place I’ve kept them for 20 years, dingbat!)

After I got Kendra to sleep I called back to see how he was doing. He was outside so I asked her. I didn’t know if he’d been traumatized for life or not. Then I asked what they had for supper instead. “We had the hash, Gramma. It was delicious!” Stoopid me, I then assumed they at least re-cleaned the potatoes first. Nope, just a quick rinse. Even worse, she then informed me that they couldn’t find the big flap of skin he’d cut off, so they just fried up what was in the bowl and used extra ketchup. I have yet to find where he hid my mandolin.

morning everyone:frow
getting a little rain here, happy to see it, helps my beans come up, we pulled the pea vines up the other day and replanted kentucky blues, i love the taste of those beans:drool
after i feed the chicks, think i will go shopping for a few things, sure hate to go shopping tho, i'm one of those women that hates shopping for anything, most of the time i try to order online:confused:

Good morning all! We’re still at my sisters. It was a rough night last night. They did fireworks at their family reunion and my sisters boy took one to the eye. We got him to the ER and they took him by ambulance to the University of Minnesota. We couldn’t take my sister and her hubby as neither one of us drives in the cities. A cousin took them. They are transferring him to another hospital right now and he has surgery at 7:30. Last night both doctors said he would probably lose his eye. This morning they are saying they may be able to save the eye but he won’t be able to see. His other eye is scratched so don’t know if there’s anything they do for that or if it heals with time. Not much for sleep here last night.

I'm with you on the shopping thing...not my favorite activity either. Try to make it fun!
