The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Sorry about the work situation. Interesting that the new job is that close with such a pay disparity.
The one I work for takes kids from 6 weeks until 12 years, it’s a daycare. The other side is an actual preschool for 3-5 year olds. Different but yet alike. I’m not sure how that’s funded. I assume how regular schools get their money? Ours is funded by grants and private funding. They sought this employee out which in my opinion is dirty but it will be better for her. She is just great to work with. She does not actually have a teaching degree but has had a few years of college which she could get a 2 year variance to teach but has to have schooling yet. They are paying for that. Our director is going to try to get us a raise at the next board meeting. We are getting $9 an hour right now. It’s hard to get employees due to the low pay.

Nothing fun! Finally at the tail end of that cold I caught and working. The lady that I work with is quitting because she was offered a lot more money and benefits to teach at the preschool at the other side of our building. I am happy for her but don’t know who we will get to replace her.
I got my little dresser done. I couldn’t get it stripped so I ended up painting it. It’s not perfect but I like it.
I’m working on an old desk now that was given to me.

I would say it is a testament to her as a person and teacher. They heard, they called.

I'm sure it is. Oddly Minnesota has a different minimum for large employers than for small. Vermont's is $10.78 other than for tipped employees.

I hope that raise comes through DMC, $9 is not nearly enough!
