Do you have a Thanksgiving day in Kenya?


Yeah, course the Kenyans celebrate the British coming to colonise 'em - who wouldn't ? Now kicking the Brits out of Kenya - oh yeah, they certainly do, but not quite the same thing.
 
No, Thanksgiving is not a conquering type of holiday, it is taking stock of life, counting your blessings and being grateful...and pie. most of us are grateful for the pie.

Really? I understood it to be a celebration of the tenacity of settlers etc etc. But I agree that pies are always celebration-worthy (particularly steak pies, gravy and chips - fries to you). Will be one of my first meals when I go back to Blighty.
 
It was about surviving another year.

But by the time we made it a holiday it became more of a day of gratitude.

Considering politics here, it is probably a day of gratitude for being shed of us.
