The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

kdogg it is okay to decide what kind of meal you want for any holiday. We never had any special meal for New Years. Just another day.:idunnoNot even any ice cream left.

Thanks! Thats true!! We've never really done anything special either. Usually only do for Christmas and Thanksgiving and Easter haha though Easter we usually go out.

Way back before my mom passed away - my brother used to take us out to a movie and then ice cream at Baskin Robbins. Now we don't do anything. The neighbors however shoot off massive fireworks /explosions the days before, the day of, and for days after until they run out of fire power.

Aw its too bad you dont do it now. :(

And I hate that!!! Stuff like that is why I’m glad fireworks are illegal here. LOL

stupid people, not everyone wants to listen to fireworks, we have a dog that goes bonkers when fireworks, guns or thunder goes off, and they were still at it last night and probably will be at it til they run out like you said, stupid people:mad:

That’s awful. :(

Here people do occasionally set them off or they used to but we’ve gotten a lot of new neighbors last several years and they don’t. When people do, it’s mostly only for the 4th thankfully but, again, no one near us usually but we can kind of hear and see them from our house.

We used to occasionally set them off. :hide

Haven’t in years.

Have fun Cap!
I did! Got my ears repierced. I have lots of earrings I will be able to wear once the holes heal up. And I got the glass I ordered( despite the fact that they lost the order). A bunch of stuff for my fish tank...excited to get that set up!

If the feral cats show up looking for a handout, I'll know they won (hoping they did).
I hate to say this but if there was a victor, there was a loser ... and the loser is likely dead under the porch. That might become a bit :sick when the weather warms up.

hopping john
Had to look that up, never heard of it.

There is something to be said for stability!

Curious. I've never heard of that as a traditional New Year's day food but a YouTube channel I follow said they were having the same thing! How common is it across the country/continent/world to have pork and kraut on New Year's Day?
I had never heard of it until I met CJ. Someone I used to know from TN said black eyed peas had to be eaten on new year's day. Personally, I've never followed any tradition.
