Just before the Cedar Fire... I bought my house in 2003 but because of a 45 day escrow didnt get to move in till 2004.I think it was 2004. My DIL at the time kicked my son out after draining all the bank accounts, I was on a road trip to Chicago, so Sue jumped a flight to San Diego and as soon as I was done in Chicago, I grabbed a flight as well. We got him set up in an apartment and I stayed there for about six months. Luckily I could and did work from anywhere. It became a good excuse for my customer to visit airports in CA.
then, by the time you get a care package it will be too latewe're not that destitute yet, I'll let you know if it comes to that.
blooie, i know that if the virus is going around in my town, no way do i want to go to the store and take a chance just cause i need tpaper rather buy when i can than take that chanceI just don’t get the run on toilet paper, of all things! What in the world that has to do with Coronavirus......makes you wonder, doesn’t it? I can almost see sanitizers and cleaning products, but toilet paper? The lemming mentality of human beings astounds me at times.
IM, what are they, turkeys? They’re loving that sunshine!! No babies here this spring. I’ve got 11 chickens now and that’s about 4 too many. I can’t give eggs away right now, and goodness knows I’m trying! Now that I can’t eat egg yolks, most of the joy of cooking and eating eggs is gone.
I went in to buy smokes once. The sign behind the counter said, “If you do not look 26, we will card you.” So I stood there, and stood there. Finally the cashier asked me there was something else I needed. I said, “Nope” and pointed at the sign. Then I asked him, “Do I LOOK 26 to you?” He looked at the sign again, back at me, then a big grin came over his face as he asked me for my ID. Made the day for both of us, I think.
I don't understand the tp thing either B. From everything I've read about the virus, diarrhea is not an issue. The only thing I can figure is people are leery about leaving home so they're stocking up on basics.![]()

yeah, since theres a case about 25 miles from here, i don't like having to go to the store more than i have too, just in case, been wondering whether we should load up and go back north to our little corner of the world we wouldn't have to go to the store much, i have a freezer full of meats and lots of my canned items, wouldn't starve thats for sureI guess in your situation, but the virus is not going around here, so it makes no sense for a town of 600 and it’s closest neighbor, a town of 1100, to nab every roll in existence.![]()

Yep San Diego has a range of sites and quite a few colorful locations. My son works on the harbor near Lindbergh Field. I used to work in the old hangers built back in 1930 ish. Lots of history for Air flight here.
Big Rodeo town too. Used to be anyway. When the Navy was a major influence they brought in horse lovers from all over the country . Miramar Naval Airstaton had a Boarding stable right on their property. Lots of old gunnery range from WWII between there and where I am now. We used to ride out there and "discover stuff"... LOL. Riding ridges you could come across Line shacks left over from Rancho Fanita one of the largest cattle Ranches in San Diego county. Thousands and thousands of acres.
Railroad history as well. The Buffalo soldiers were stationed here at Camp Lockett. Trains would go from here through Mexico then back into the US through Camp Lockett, then ON To El Centro and Arizona and on. You can hike or bike along the old train tracks and discover the Choriso Gorge where the tallest Wooden Trestle bridge is in the world.
its called The Goat Canyon Trestle

and yes you can walk across it if you arent afraid of hights and the occasional board missing.
When I moved to Jacumba they were trying to revitalize the Railroad and re open it for Tourists and the occasional load of cargo. I was hoping I could use my horse to pull a wagonette to bring people from the train depot to town for lunch. Used to be a big train destination so there is alot of abandoned rolling stock . There were even ones used as housing when they were building or expanding.
Yep I love history...
