Technically here in CA Alcahol cannot leave the store unless its in a bag or container of some sort. but since they are curbing the use of plastic bags They are allowing people to walk out with a bottle of just about anything in their hands. Strange to see a bottle of Jack Daniels or Jameson walking out the door with a human attached to it.Thankfully here most of our cashiers are extraordinarily good, but we do have a couple that could use some extra training on how to bag groceries. Then there are those who are overly anal about the law. Technically, if you touch a bottle of wine or beer, you have to be carded. Most just card the payer, especially since it's really obvious that Sue and I are old enough, but every now and again we'll find one who will tell us, if she touches that bag, I'll have to card her. Yes, it's the law... So I'll go put that bag in the cart. Same with liquor stores here, they card everyone who comes in the door, at least the first time.

You see lots of people just wheeling their baskets out with everything loose in there just so they dont have to pay Fifteen Cents for a bag.
