ny reason your son won't allow the drapes open and heat? After all, you live in a relatively warm place, can't cost much to heat the house this time of year.
Our utilities dropped a full one hundred dollars this month. San Diego has high rates too. California in general has higher rates than the rest of the country I believe.

The drapes are pulled to keep the heat in. We have alot of windows. I understand why hes doing this...

But its depressing as much as when grandma lived here. Same goes for summer. Beautiful view I love 80 degree weather. No ac for me up to 90 degrees... But this one has to have the AC on at 79 degrees.

Though He may opt out of AC because now hes paying the utilities.

It really does depend on who is paying for the utilities! I noticed when my son got his own apartment that the winter temps were cooler and the summer temps warmer when he was paying the bills.

Dang mine just keep skyrocketing. We're pretty conservative too. No ac, moderate heat, every bit of duck water gets reused in other plants... SDGE Just switched to that new billing scale where any gas/electric used between 4-9pm is charged at the most expensive rate. I've been jumping thru hoops to make sure washer, dryer & dishwashers are all off during that period, but I bet my bill is still higher next month.

1st thing I do in the morning is open all the curtains. Its tough in August/September when I have to keep them blacked out all day, but necessary to keep it from being 100* in here.

That's a pretty accurate description for how I'm feeling today...my sinuses are messed up and creating a general state of chaos today. :lau
I‘m sorry your sinuses are giving you grief. That can be so doggone miserable. It’s like when you’re “coming down with“ a cold. For crying out loud, just come on full strength and get it the heck over with already! The “coming town with” stage is more miserable than the doggone cold!

Yeah, we heard last night that The Virus has been confirmed in Sheridan. Great. We just spent the weekend there, staying in a hotel, going out for meals, meeting all those Masons and their ladies..... We all know what Masons do - travel all over the country. So peachy!! Ken was supposed to go to a statewide-member Scottish Rite meeting in Casper on Saturday. He just sent his regrets. He says even if he didn’t get it, he didn’t want to bring it home to Kendra and me. Bless him!!

And it just dawned on me that I forgot to post his peanut brittle recipe! I’m sorry! So much happening here I hope I’m forgiven. I’ll get to it!

I forgot how fast they grow. The older ones are almost all feathered except for their heads. It's crazy - the oldest aren't even quite 2 weeks old yet. Our one and only wild coloured one is a boy. And a few of the gold ones are looking boyish, but some need a few more chest feathers before I'm sure. With the whites and tuxedos/darks (of which there are 22 out of the 32 birds) I'll have to wait and see who crows. They've been having jumping competitions this morning. One jumped out the door the other day when I had it open, just because it was having fun leaping about with its siblings.

The very first one that hatched, a tuxedo, is the sweetest, friendliest little thing. It's a keeper even if it's a boy.

I've got a chocolate stout cake recipe somewhere and you're making me want to try baking it.

Awwwwww, so cute!!! It’s nice to see something in a tuxedo where I don’t have to wash the white shirt and deal with all the darned front pleats!!!

Okay, news flash: Kenny called about an hour ago. The kids got the loan modification on the house! :wee They got a lower interest rate and their payments have gone up for several months until the back amount is brought current, then the payments drop significantly, to even lower than the original loan. It means some belt-tightening until then, but we’ve told them if they end up a little short once in awhile NOT to let it get behind....to call us and we’ll help. Then when those payments drop down again, we’ll set up a repayment plan they can live with and that doesn’t jeopardize any of their other obligations. Kenny said, “If you’re trying to win the ‘Parents of the Year’ award, you just won it.” I told him, “Don’t be silly - I’m trying out for the ‘This House is Too Small for Two Adults and Two Dogs as it is and We Don’t Have Room for Two More Adults and Two Kids Award’”. Anyway, I’m thrilled for them, and think they’ve learned a valuable lesson in financial stoopidity along the way. Time will tell.

Didn't finish the office after all. Ken needed to go up to Billings to order a new suit.....he says he forgot. Yeah, right. How do you forget that you caught the sleeve on a screw sticking out of a stair rail and snagged it up worse than a cheap stocking? No fixing it either....he did take it in to find out and Betty just looked at him and asked if he was kidding. I’m just glad it wasn’t his tux! He has two of them and he’s not getting a third. Most guys don't own one! But I got Famous Dave’s catfish fingers out of the trip and don’t have to cook tonight. :clap

SDSU made that announcement yesterday. Our local JC & CC are waiting to see what UCSM does & will follow suit. It makes it tough for the classes that cant be online. My kids also take stuff like art, swimming, ballet, volleyball.... What will their transcripts look like for this semester? Incomplete? Is Ron here? Maybe he knows? @ronott1
Is that Brookings SD?

I forgot to chime in on the utilities. That was the biggest drop we saw when we moved out here. Our water, gas, and electric bill combined were less than just our electric bill back in South Dakota. And the taxes on our house in Canton, even back in 1996, were $1469.00 a year. Here our taxes were $145.00 a year. They went up during the ensuing years of course, but maxed out at $167.00. By then we’d lived here long enough to qualify for the Disabled Veteran’s exemption. He is a Wyoming native with retired/disabled status, but we had to have moved back here after retirement and live here for X number of years. We didn’t even know about it until two years ago when someone at the VA mentioned it to Ken and suggested he apply for it. Now we pay zero for property taxes. Good thing, because the $167.00 was about killing us!

Great news about the kids house! And good for Ken on declining the trip to Casper so you all aren't exposed to anything...right now it seems to be smartest to stay put unless it's really necessary.

We have the first confirmed coronavirus cases in our area. I’m getting a little nervous now. I was just in both of the towns a little over a week ago. They were crazy at our grocery store tonight.
My son just started a new job this week driving semi and I hope he doesn’t bring anything back from his travels.
