The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

i agree, our son on the other hand won't eat a lot of things , i still think hes a changling i was raised to eat what was put on the table and my momma was a good cook

Sounds like my SIL and my daughter's 3 children. My son's adopted (Chinese) children will eat/try anything. Most people today have never had to 'do without'. Eat what's there or go hungry - note I said 'most'. If you are seriously hungry, you will eat what is offered. We may be entering a phase of relearning that plain and simple fact. Mom always said, "Waste not, want not."

Deal was when I was growing up that if you shot it, you ate it. Never shot another raccoon. Just now realized that rule did not apply to trapped animals? Guess because at least the pelt was utilized. Bottom line was respect life, but utilize what was needed.
us too daddy said you don't kill it unless you're going to eat it or its poisonous(lots of poisonous snakes in fl. ) brother had trapped coons and possums to sell to a black man that sold fruits and veggies toward town and he also sold the dressed out meat

I sold freshly caught muskrats to a local fur handler. He paid as much for the meat as he did for the pelts.
