The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Well damn, DH just called to let me know his mother passed away. Her lung cancer moved to her brain and she's been in hospice the past 10 days.

I'm not going to sugar coat it, she was a miserable and mean person who managed to alienate all 4 of her children. But I kept hoping things would improve between her & DH. Now that won't ever happen and it just all seems like such a shame for all involved.

Remember to hug the people you care about, tell them you love them and make any amends needed before it's too late.
Sorry your DH lost his Mom.

I'm seriously considering getting some Muscovy ducklings. It's the end of the season here but they'd be ready to start laying by spring and someone nearby has just hatched some. I really want Muscovies for bug control seeing as our chickens, who are now 'free range', don't go further than 30 feet from their coop.:barnie We have huge locusts everywhere at the moment - I couldn't believe the size of one I saw yesterday. It was a whopper! And with cows there are always flies. As long as they don't eat too many dragonflies. I think the dragonfly population is the reason we don't have many mosquitos.

The daycare I used to work at was given a lone Muscovy duckling but I ended up taking him home because there just wasn't the space to look after him properly, and little kids and duck poop aren't the best combination. We eventually found him a home with lots of girls to look after. He was a lovely bird. His name was Webster.

Well, as of 11.59pm tonight (about the time you guys start to get up) our borders are closed to everyone except for permanent residents and citizens (and their families). That's pretty darn huge!
