The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

morning everyone:frow

sorry i haven't been here for a while but y'all know how it is when you get busy with garden, just not enough hours in the day, just came in from the garden, cooking my first of the season mustard greens(mine), washing rape leaves to put in the fridge for tomorrows meal, so far, we've had a mess of spinach and i froze three quart bags, did that monday and now it looks like i need to pick more tomorrow for freezing, peas have pods on them, just not filled out yet
tomatoes are coming up volunteer everywhere, i have no idea what kind, maybe peach:idunnowe will see, i left quite a few to see
got a new bird this morning, a big bourbon red tom, have no idea where he came from but if no one claims him, hes mine,he was in the bottom pasture and husband asked me if a wild turkey had white wings and back, dil's dog saw him and got a hold of him, tom lost a lot of feathers before she caught the dogs, but i told husband to catch him while i made my way down there from the garden husband was just about done in from carrying him back up:D
:frow
Welcome back!

If the tomatoes were hybrids, then the volunteers will not be what the parents were. Hybrids do not breed true...In chickens or plants LOL!

i know last year i had volunteers down where they had been planted two years before, turned out they were my peach tomatoes and i love them, this year everything is coming up everywhere, where the peach volunteered last year and the beginning of this year, coming up where we had the red tomatoes for canning, but birds could have spread them up front, we'll see, if peachs, we like them and they do really well with lots of fruits and they pigs love them too, whatever, a free tomato is a free tomato :lau

Hi Sue, you also!
Question for you...any tips on how to get a 2 year old to quit biting?
Hi, the only way I've seen work is biting the child back ( just to let them know it hurts ). The parents need to be the ones that do it of course, as we can't.
I remember when our daughter was in this stage and it only took one time getting bit back to cure the problem.

The dad asked us to, we said we can’t. He’s even biting his parents. He can’t be here today cuz he bit 3 times yesterday. We have a little area blocked off with a metal crib type thing we put him in when he bites. Kids are starting to be afraid of our little T-Rex.
