The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Good morning IM (yikes, it is still morning...I'm ready for a nap)
Good morning, I'm ready for a nap too! My mom is coming over between doc appointments and we're making a list of questions for her to ask today so no nap for me. What's on your agenda? Are you packing yet?

Great new Bob!!

The parents were going to see if they could try him as a drop in at another daycare to see if he still bites.
I'd bet there will be no improvement. May even be worse with a change to a new and unknown environment (unless the other daycare is more "hands on the butt"). I think they need a kid shrink.

I already have most all my planned stuff done for the day...cleaned out the fridge, decluttered the kitchen (yes, finally!), trip to the P.O., laundry done, etc. You know, all the exciting stuff! :gig

Hope your mom's doctor appointment goes well.

Good evening folks ... :frow

Sue had a good day today. She had her follow up angiogram and again it was negative. The neuro said that this is a good thing. Apparently her bleed came from a week spot in a vein that repaired itself after the bleed. We're starting the steps to get her home..

Awesome news! I bet Sue will feel better knowing she'll get to go home soon.

How did your hatch go?

Had to share some cute photos of our two chickies. They love my daughter and want to dust bathe squished up against her bare legs (she's in shorts and tshirt even though it's not that warm here)! Thankfully we have some old carpet on the floor that they can play on (saves my good carpet from the cats scratching on it).

They get very sad when Fox and Squeaks get to go and play in the bathroom, and they also complain loudly when they manage to roll their teddy out from under the heat lamp. 🤣

They are cuties Jae! What breed are they?

They are cuties Jae! What breed are they?

It's a breed developed in the South Island by a lady who had a particular mutt chicken who laid all year round, and the hens are supposed to do the same (I think broody in summer, laying in winter, but we'll see how that pans out). All of her birds are descendants of that one hen. They do have Cochin in them (which are themselves a breed re-created in NZ because we never had the 'original' Cochin breed) and I'm sure there would be production birds in them too. I'm hoping one will end up a hen and the other a rooster. The roosters are supposed to be very calm and quiet, not that quiet matters for us as our coop is quite a trek away at the back of the property, away from the road.

I just had to go out in the pouring rain to let our poor chickens out, not that I think they'll stray far from the coop today (not that they ever stray far as much as I'd like them to be doing all the things that chickens are supposed to do)! They are under a thick stand of trees so they are very sheltered.

We are in the process of turning one of the kids sheds into the duck house but it's not quite ready yet so the poor ducks may have to play in the rain for awhile so I can clean out their inside cage. :sick
